The Double tree was new, nice, clean, and the rooms are good sized. The chocolate chip cookie, as always, is to die for. The service was impeccable, and having a Gloria Jeans coffee shop in the hotel was a plus. The big issue is the shower. The glass doors that enclose the shower stall does not prevent the water from leaking all over the bathroom, turning it into a lake. There's no slant to the shower floor to the drain either, which made the situation worse.

The location was decent, but it's at least 1.5km to anywhere, so a taxi is a must. thank goodness taxis are cheap in Bucharest and the hotel is happy to get one for you.

We arrived late directly from the airport. Hot cookie on check in, fine room, free wifi, good sleep.
Complimentary breakast was a bit ordinary but it did fill us up.

First of all this DoubleTree is NOT located at the Unirii Square as the name might suggest.
It's ca. 20-30 minutes of easy walk there (to the shopping mall or old town) though.

Facility is new, clean and nice.
Only the ceillings are a little bit too low causing some claustrofobical feelings.
Soundproof rooms give you a good night sleep.
Quite good breakfast, but limited choice. Good point is that veggies are available and service is smooth.

Free wi-fi accross the hotel, but as with all free things it is spotty and performance is very low.

Bottom line: good location for buisness in central Bucharest at a reasonable price tag (lower than the usual business hotels in the city).

I've stayed there for one night, as I've decided last minute to extend a booking at the Hilton Athenee Palace and they were fully booked - so had to switch to Double Tree.

I was able to book a Junior Suite with Hilton Honors points - strangely it was the ''cheapest'' (number of points) room I could get. Very spacious, well and modern equipped. The heaters seem a bit strange until you figure out how to use the controls, but once you do, all is good.

The breakfast is quite comprehensive and service is attentive. They initially wanted to charge for the breakfast, but were quite quick to react and correct when i pointed that Gold HH members typically have the breakfast free.

The really big downside of the hotel is the location. Not so much the fact that it is not super central - in the end, with a taxi or even a bus (stop is 200 m away) you'll be in city centre in 5-10 mins. The problem is the noise as most rooms face the big intersection in front, with heavy, aggressive traffic. Try to get a room facing the backside, or plan to fall asleep late and to wake up early.

Double Tree by Hilton is a pretty safe choice so I knew what to expect.
Hotel is okay, clean and very good staff. It is however pretty soulless and no atmosphere at all.
You do not really want to spend any time there and unlike other hotels where bars, restaurants etc... Can be nice places to send a few hours this place does not have that.
Location is not great and the noise of the traffic from 4/5am is very loud!
You then need to get a cab into city centre, this is not a good experience, cab drivers here will rip you off at every opportunity.
If going to Bucharest book hotels in city and go for 5* you get amazing value compared to UK and other major European cities.
