An excellent place and an amazing building. It's worth seeing it from inside and outside, but also to stay for a play.

“Beautiful Interior”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

We arrived at the opera house on a day the orchestra was rehearsing so it wasn't open to the public. We went around to the side (right when facing enterance) and found a the staff door. For a very small fee a security guard allowed us in and walked us around the inside. His English was limited, but it was clear he was very proud of the building and he made great efforts to explain its features to us.
This is a beautiful building and if time and schedule allows we will plan on attending a performance there next time we are in Bucharest

“Chance to go to the opera, on the cheap”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

When top price tickets are only 80 RON (about £16), it seems silly not to take the opportunity to go to the opera for the first time! We turned up just before the performance and bought tickets for a production of Tosca, which we really enjoyed. We didn’t really know what to expect so we looked up the synopsis online first, meaning we were able to follow what was happening despite the Italian singing and the Romanian subtitles. We are no opera experts, but the performers and the orchestra seemed excellent to us.

It’s a beautiful building - though admittedly not as glamorous or elaborate as some of Central and Eastern Europe’s major opera houses. Unfortunately the front is obscured by scaffolding for renovation works, so we had a bit of trouble spotting it from the metro station in the pouring rain – but it’s not far at all.

“Very beautiful”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

This opera house was reminds me of old pictures of Bucharest before communism, how beautiful it was, much like Paris is now. A gem in a new world. Saw the marriage of Figaro here was nice.
