“A lovely way to spend the day”

Owner description: One of the more striking things about this beautiful botanical garden is the fact that it is located right next to an industrial centre, complete with cooling towers, chimneys churning out everything nasty-looking, and nasty smells. That small problem aside, the garden is well kept and absolutely beautiful in the spring. While having a stroll, you'll come across impressive pine trees, a lily pond with waterfall and a herb garden. Bucharestians treat the gardens as a park, and on warm afternoons you may see more young lovers than plants. The huge glasshouses are open Tue, Thr, Sat, Sun, 09:00 - 13:00. Take bus 336 from Universitate to get there. Admission 10,000 lei (5,000 for children).

Like so many places in Bucuresti, this has been beautifully renovated and restored following the post-commie days when it was just short of being an eyesore. Walk along the paths amidst lovely plantings of flowers, shrubs, and trees. The Conservatory is filled with a variety of tropical and semi-tropical plants. Most of the plantings are well-tended and clearly identified. The Garden is a favourite spot for taking wedding photos, and there were a couple of parties there when we visited. Peaceful, pleasant, and highly recommended.

Cheap as chips to get in, the park is vast, well laid out and and enjoyable few hours away from the hustle of Bucharest. Speaking no Romanian, it was a touch difficult initially to find the place, but once we arrived we were glad we´d made the effort.

Plan your trip if possible to coincide with the greenhouses being opened. We had very limited time in the city and they were closed when we visited sadly.

the botanical garden is nice, but it looks like a normal park to me. i believe it should be better structured. i went there with friends and we weren't really impressed . I liked it alot because it has alot of green and a small forest, i liked the flowers, but unfortunatelly we couldnt visit the greenhouse. maybe next time

It is a really nice garden, but in my opinion there is not enough staff to take care of the plants there, to change them every season, to keep the space full. When I was there in May 2013, even after a long period of great weather, the garden was still in progress and mostly empty. Too bad, as it is an ideal place to take a walk.
Inscriptions are old and not everywhere and there is only a single point at the entrance where you can buy some water and juice. I didn't see any restaurant or any other offer. Very little number of benches. I don't know where or if there are any toilets.
