Not sure if we visited on a special day or not but there were lots of concerts going on! We were not sure if this happened all year round.
Lots of interesting things to see and do in the park.
walk, meditate, jogging, cultural events, restaurants, pubs, boat ride; kayak, rent a bike,... these are just a few to mention. To this you can add the Village Museum - same location
It' s not quite 5 stars but I gave it for it is a big green relief in this huge city of concrete and dust. The lake is accesible for a boat trip and the shores are full of flowers trees and playgrounds. Sometimes there are expo of many kind (painting, traditional food, photo) On the margins you can find a lot of nice restaurants and pubs for different budgets, maybe except for..low budget.. :)
Very near is the Village Museum, a night concert arena, and another standard objectives for tourists.
The parc is accesible by many transportation. Better to visit work days or morning in the weekend.
Big park south of old town but writing walking distance. The lake is nice, lots of locals will be walking, running, biking there but is still less busy but than the rest of the city. is close to Parc Carol so worth combining the two for a nice morning/afternoon stroll.
Herastrau could very easily be regarded as the "Central Park" of Bucharest. Jogging, walking and also -very often- home of cultural and artistic events, the park has great potential.
In the mood for brunch? Take a blanket and have a picnic by the lake, in the refreshing shadow of a tree.
