This is a most beautiful Park, featuring Centuries Old Trees of all shapes & sizes (including display of their Botanical Classifications) , thousands of squirrels, well maintained walking paths, cycling lanes, plenty of benches, various pavilions hosting periodical Exhibitions of Flowers, etc, various Cycling devices for Hire (one can hire them at one entrance and return them at another entrance..) for minimal fees, a beautiful artificial lake featuring pleasure boats trips...It is a heaven of coolness in the Hot Bucharest summers, as well as a Snow marvel in winter...Not to mention the large array of Restaurants of all shapes & sizes suitable for every pocket..

This a massive park in Bucharest with lots of things to do. It's a great place to go running. There are bikes to rent and there is a whole section just for he kids.

I often go to Herastrau Park with my family, but my daughter goes too with her colleagues (she is a teenager) for a walk and have fun in the park or on the lake. It is also good for parents with young children, because they have special corners for children playing.

The park is placed around Herastrau Lake (on Colentina River) and even the green landscape is arranged it looks a bit wild, which makes the park to look like a natural forest, because the park is established since 1939 and was finished in 1951. Projects for this park were made by architects Ernest Pinard and Fr. Rebhun. Rebhun was a talented Austrian landscape architect who helped create plant composition (trees, shrubs, flowers) and Romanian architect Octav Dobrescu designed alleys. In 1936, at the initiative of Professor Dimitrie Gusti, the National Village Museum was established in Herastrau Park, on the border of the lake.

The park has 187 hectares (acres) and you can freely walk, ride a bicycle or skating for hours without repeating the landscape, or play tennis or mini-golf . There are many restaurants where you can seat and have a coffee or a fresh juice, some of them with terrace on the lake; you can take a ride on the lake (74 hectares) by a small ship or rowing boat for at least one hour; you can see the artesian fountains and flower exhibition (Expoflora) or exotic fish exhibition near Expoflora; you can see a movie on an evening open cinema or at the summer theatre, or you can see the park from top of the Big Wheel.

There is always something to do for everybody and everyone can find here everything!
