Owner description: This outdoor museum includes more than 300 buildings representing the history of Romania's rural architecture.

Romania is made of of three countries and this museum depicts the styles of the homes of these three areas before becoming Romania.
It is interesting to see styles and how they coped with the climate of the time.
Although only here for a short time we were able to see a lot of the museum and appreciate the work involved in getting this fantastic museum together, as all the homes were deconstructed and reconstructed here. The other thing is, that it is easy to get around in a wheelchair. Some slight hills but easily managed.
Well worth a visit if you are here.

For the location, ambience and sheer scope of styles, this is a fascinating place to spend half a day ogling at parochial house and church design from all regions of Romania. The buildings were dismantled and brought here to showcase the living spaces of rural dwelling Romanians and is, in essence, an architectural theme park.
Just beware, as elsewhere in Bucharest's attraction list some of the staff will enforce the 'no-photo' rule with utter authority - spoil sports!

Big prior reluctance about this place and an irrational one. But once there, you spend hours and hours, forgetting about time. You tour beautiful traditional houses, you go to the Herastrau lake as you like, to take a stroll, to gaze at black swans or to buy icecream from a pretty snack kiosk. Then u come back to the museum, you stroll some more, admire lazy cats and/or buy homemade plum brandy. You may also rush to see who's playing and singing. The next thing you know you dance with people on traditional music. A place full of wonders!
