“Wonderful museum and a great place to buy Romanian crafts.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

Beautiful collection of buildings from all over Romania. We visited on a Saturday in July when there were all kinds of art classes for kids going on and vendors of very high quality crafts set up outside on the grounds. We wished we'd bought more as we never found prices as low anywhere else in Bucharest. The gift shop was also good, but not nearly as affordable.

“Don't miss this museum!”

We walked around and enjoyed the outside museum on a beautiful fall day. It is interesting to see the various types of houses throughout Romania up and close.

“national village museum. bucharest. romania.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

5mins walk away from replica of the arcul de triump. The most fab outdoor museum. Buildings dating back to the 18th century, farms, water+windmills, homesteads, clay houses. All showing how people lived in romania from different regions in the last couple of century's. There are around 100 buildings to look around. Entrance fee was only 10 Romanian Leiu when i went, well under priced. Next to it is Herastrau Park which is the largest park in bucharest. There is an enormous lake where you can get a boat trip lasting around 3/4 of an hour, or hire a paddle boat. Places where you can get food +drink, nothing posh, just basic romanian snacks, or just take a picnic. Is a full day out at very little cost.Put it top of your list of places to see.

“Old buildings in a natural setting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

A display of about 300 authentic wood and stone buildings collected from various locations across Romania, representing typical buildings past and present. Cost to enter was 7 leu (about $2) and there's a good size gift shop and a small food concession inside the entrance. The chocolate covered ice cream 'Bettys?' were good and a bargain at 3 leu (less than a dollar). It's a pleasant walk around the area, there's a lake and lots of buildings to look at and a great place to just sit and people watch as long as the weather's good. It's an OK place to visit and if you're into old buildings you'll have hit the jackpot, but I wouldn't be overly disappointed if you don't have time to get there.

“Take a picnic, plenty of places to sit and enjoy..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

Away from the noise and bustle of the city traffic, is this gem of a museum. Various buildings from all of Romania's historic areas, set out in superb grounds. Windmills, waterwheels and amazing buildings, the highlight is the wooden Mamures church, all sort of dwellings abound. For a peaceful few hours this is a perfect place to visit, relax time stands still here. There is a good museum shop, with authentic items to purchase. This museum borders Herastru Park which is another great place....
