“Amazing collection of buildings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2012

I think this is one of the best things to see in Bucharest. It is a large collection of farm houses and farmyards transported from across the country. There are also churches, windmills, wineries and all the other things you could find in a village. Although located in the city it is in a huge park and most of the time you are there you feel like you are in a village. The houses are filled with Romanian folk art and furniture. The original painting remains in the old wooden churches. Landscaping is lovely and appropriate and the site is on a lake. If you can't get out into the countryside this is especially important to see. Encountered one rude staff but everyone else was quite nice. A Bucharest must see.

“All of rural Romania in one place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2012

I love this place! For those of us who like quiet surroundings in the middle of a very busy city, this is the place! You can see different houses from all over Romania, see their interior, traditions, etc
One of my favourite places in Bucharest!

“An impressive view of Romanian villages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2012

The Village Museum will introduce the visitor into the history and reality of the Romanian villages. The open air museum hosts many houses from various parts of Romanian territory and from various periods in time. The houses are real (they were moved from their original location to the museum) and very well maintained and all resembles real Romanian peasants houses which can be found even now in some regions.

The museum is a quite large and visitors will need few hours to visit all houses and yards, but the visitor eyes will see houses and customs very specific to Romanian culture. It is also agreeable to spend some time here, as the museum is placed on a side of the Herestrau park in one of the few green places in Bucharest.
