We visited the palace of the parliament, when we arrived we were informed that you had to join a guided tour, as you are not allowed to walk around alone, you have to leave your passport at the entrance, the guide had great pleasure in telling us that this is the second largest administrative building in the world, then tells you how many tons of marble, crystal etc were used in its construction. tour takes about an hour & a half. Quite interesting. Shows how the communist dictator at the time obscenely wasted money on himself when most of the population barely had enough to live on. well worth a visit.

Unbelievably extravagant!! A must see even just for a walk past! The history is amazing and you struggle to grasp the enormity of it all!

To be honest, i find the exterior of the building quite dull. It is indeed imposing, standing there on the hill, in the middle of Bucharest and once you are close to it you feel really really small. But the exterior of the building doesn't prepare you at all for what you are going to see inside.
The interior is all about luxury and everything is huge: huge rooms, huge chandeliers, gold, expensive decorations....Everything inside makes it deserve the name of "Palace".
The standard tour is quite cheap, but it only covers a small part. The guide advised us to take this one because "there is nothing else to see". However, we didn't listen and we chose the standard tour + basement + panoramic view (we are students and we got a huge discount). We are so happy we did this because it was incredible!
However, if you want to take photos you need to pay and extra fee that in our case was almost the same as the visiting ticket.
