I attended on a conference in December, last year. Intercontinental offered everything what we needed: luxury for a very reasonable price. After the long working hours we refreshed ourselves in the pool area on the top floor with a beautiful view to the whole city, included the Peoples Parliament.
The breakfast was delicious, do not miss out the pasta de macies, a special romanian jam or the eggplant cream.
The room was ok, beds were comfortable. I enjoyed the balcony and the view very much.
The chief concierge organized our evening programs and we all thank to Catalin, who gave us the best tips how to explore this exciting city.
I plan to visit Bucharest with my wife for a romantic weekend, I would definitely stay again at Intercontinental.

Spent my w/e in Bucharest for a business trip and I stayed in Intercontinental. This is a very nice hotel, although its older than other 5 stars hotels I've been into. The room was perfect and the service impeccable (I need to learn where to buy that type of pillows - they make dreams better :). I had lunch in Corso and on Sunday I've tried the brunch in Modigliani restaurant - very good food and plenty of it.

By far the best thing was the 21st floor club lounge where I held my meetings - great view, great service and a very positive atmosphere.

Room Tip: Getting a Club Room will give you access to the 21st floor Club Lounge. That is a perfect location f...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing InterContinental Bucharest to spend your business weekend. I am very happy that you have mentioned the pillows, indeed they are very popular. Thank you for recommending the food offer, it is great that you had the chance to experience both the Corso and the Modigliani restaurants. As for the Club Lounge, it really offers an outstanding view over the city of Bucharest. It is a pity to miss it.

I look forward to your next visit in the near future!

Perfect for a business meeting. You will have more privacy here for confidential discussion than in the Bar/lounge area at the 1sst. floor.
Probably the best view in the city. It is rather expensive if you have to pay for access - but as a frequent Intercontinental user, then you will have access.

We have had an extremely interesting week in Bucharest staying at the Intercontinental Bucharest. From arrival the staff have been excellent friendly and very helpful. The Hall porters department .extremely helpful. Please get them to organise every thing you need. This will be done with a smile. We had a city tour by car for 4 hours - a full 10 hour trip to many great land marks in the country. A walking tour of the city and lastly 2 evening music concerts. This made out trip. This hotel went the extra mile all the time.

This hotel is in a great location, just a few steps from University and some 5 min walking from historical centre. Service is perfect a lot of very helpful stuff in the reception, during breakfast...rooms are nice but quite old fashioned - refurbishing could help to increase standard, but even though a little older still nice. Great view from 22nd floor with fitness and swimming pool. If you do not have free internet the price is 9 EUR/hour or 16 EUR/day which is a lot as most hotels in Bucharest offer Internet for free. The greatest experience was when I got my morning newspaper from my home country printed out on paper to the room. Locals say the hotel is famous for suicides, so please do not jump out of the balcony each room has.

Great stay, will come again.

Dear x_____Honza_____x
Thank you for beeing our guest and for the time you took to tell us about your experience in InterContinental Bucharest. The hotel has a great history, with over 40 successfull years of serving our guest, beeing in the same time an important landmark for Romania and the city of
Bucharest. The city itself is interesting when you get to discover it. One of the main attractions, as you have also mentioned, it is the Old Center, Lipscani, which, for a coupe of years , has been put in the attention it really diserves to receive.
I hope you return to Bucharest and have us as your guide.
Warm regards,
Stefan Frank

Spent 5 nights in January in a club king room on the 11th floor.

Location: The hotel is in the perfect location for all the sights it has a metro station next to it the bus from and to the airport stops outside and there is an underpass next to it which will allow you to cross the very busy road next to it.

The higher end restaurants seem to be up from the intercontinental, taxi will cost you a couple of pounds or euros and the old town with its many bars and cheaper restaurants in the other direction 5 -10 mins away.

We used taxis to restaurants but walked everywhere else.

The Room: the room was of a good size it had a comfy king bed a couple of occasional chairs a desk etc in a standard layout. The bathroom has marble floors and sink a small bath with a great shower over (very powerful you will not be able to help making a noise when you first step under it!). There was also a bidet. I particularly liked the sound of the TV coming through speakers in the bathroom. The TV – there is not getting away from it the TV set is old, it worked perfectly however and swivelled so that it could be seen at from the seats. After the initial surprise at seeing this TV I thought to myself of the number of TV’s in landfill sites that had nothing wrong with them and got over myself! In the club rooms you get additional channels, a couple of movie channels in English which was welcome. The English language news was either CNN or Bloomberg – I did miss the BBC especially as there was little news about the large amounts of snow that had fallen over much of Europe and the UK. The carpets must have been brand new, the furniture, although an old fashioned style was clean and in perfect condition. We had a safe, iron and iron board. The walls are attractive padded cloth and must act as a sound insulator as we could not hear anything around us. The balcony was a nice addition. The 11th floor is also a non smoking floor and rooms.

Facilities

The club room – I cannot more highly recommend paying to have a club room. The addition to your stay will be immeasurable. Access to the club room on the 21st floor is unlimited. The room itself is uber cool, smoke free with many different seating arrangements, books, papers and magazines and the best view in Bucharest.
-There are two hotel computers to use with a printer
-Free WI Fi.
- Breakfast included we ate here every morning – there is a good supply of pastries, cheese bread, fruit etc and you can have eggs (how you like) with a range of things –bacon, salmon, cheese etc…- try the eggs benedict – OMG!!!! Unrushed and serean.great coffee again how you like it brought to your table.
- Snacks and drinks on a help yourself basis all day with alcohol available after 6:30 (beers, wines and spirits). Also Tea and coffee (brought to you freshly made and again how you like it).
You are left with the feeling of being in an extremely generous and luxurious boutique hotel.

The pool was undergoing renovations when we were there and I’m afraid I’m on holiday so I did not look at the exercise equipment.

Concierge- Catalin the chief concierge was just brilliant, very informative, interesting and fun he recommended some great restaurants and things to do.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the general manager who made himself available and was open to comments and observations - it was very refreshing and really made you feel like your custom was valued.

Bucharest – ok so there is no getting away with it Bucharest is a ‘used’ city- there are many many beautiful buildings everything is shabby chic (without the hassle of being chic!)The pavements and roads are unbelievable often you will have to climb over some exposed water pipes that seem to have been dug up leaving the mud and the hole right next to the zebra crossing the whole city does not seem to be being maintained by anyone there is not ten foot of pavement that would be allowed in the Uk for fear of litigation. Tripping hazards everywhere I cannot imagine it being possible to get around in a wheelchair. However with so much of europe becoming homogenized it was refreshing to go somewhere truly different- there is little tourism and everything is very local. This is a real asset and we particularly enjoyed the Romanian restaurants, ordering food was fun.

We look forward to coming back.
