Ramada Bucharest Parc

Reviewed August 10, 2013

I have been to Bucharest several times and have always stayed at the Ramada Hotel in the city center. On one occasion I drove down from Stockholm by car and the staff organised parking for me before I arrived. Great value and fantastic breakfast, only negative was the staff were not so good with english.

One of a pair of Ramada Hotels that back on to each other in Bucharest.
Comfortable but not outstanding with efficient staff.
Typical Ramada room kept clean and tidy although smell of smoke pervades as habit still reasonably accepted with the provision of a smoking room in the lobby.
An OK base for business or pleasure although a little bit out of the city centre - check the room telephone is working!

Room Tip: Most rooms should be OK

This has everything you need for a business trip. The rooms are clean and fresh and the service is fabulous (very happy, smiling staff). The park is 5 mins jog away and i loved running every morning around the lake (7km loop) ... although it's about 4km from the main centre, so a taxi is required, but it is very cheap so easy to get around by taxi.

The restaurant in the hotel is very pleasant with an outdoor area. Food is nice, although service is a bit slow, but the food is worth it when it comes!

Stayed here for 2 nights in June on a business trip. It's close to Bucharest airport but about 30mins drive to centre of Bucharest so don't stay here if you want to be near the centre.
Receptionists speak good english and are helpful. Check in was speedy and we were in a business room on 9th floor where you get free wifi in your room, which is good. Hotel bit run down and smelt bit of smoke in the corridors. There's aircon in the rooms and reception/eating areas.
Beware getting a Taxi outside the airport - we ended up paying 600 lei (approx 120 euro) for a 15 minute drive to hotel. We think the driver flicked down a sign that said 35 lei per km as he knew we were tourists. When we mentioned it to the Hotel, they were astounded and we used their airport driver for return trip, which cost 35 euro for 2 of us - nice Mercedes car too!
We weren't too impressed with the food - ate in the restaurant 1st night and had greasy BBQ chicken and potato wedges and 2nd night we had a toasted sandwich in the bar which was ok. Also had a mojito in the bar which was lovely!
Overall, had a good stay for a business trip but not bowled over.

Room Tip: Go for 9th floor business rooms to get free wifi

Hotel and rooms are pretty run down and have a terrible sewerage system. Toilet bowl overflows in the bathroom and into the room carpet as there isn't any drainage from the bathroom floor. This must be a regular affair as there was immediate attention by the plumber and the cleaning ladies at 11.30p.m..
Needless to say, One Night is already too long!

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere!

I stayed 2 nights here last month, and it was a good choice for a transit hotel. It was not real far from the airport, maybe 10-12 minutes away, and it was fairly comfortable. The beds were a bit hard for my taste, and there was no good view of anything (from any room I think). The AC took a bit to cool the room down, but it worked. We walked to the Serbian restaurant for good fare, and we walked to the park and around the Arch de Triumph. It is not close to the city center, a cab is needed to get there, but the front desk people were very helpful in seeing that we got into a cab that knew where we were going and would not over-charge. It was in the low 90's for us, so I would have loved a pool, but there was none. Breakfast was included, and it was pretty good. Standard European foods- meats, cheeses, breads, fried eggs, potatoes. They had peach juice which was very good and unique. There was an ATM in the lobby, as the hotel could not exchange our US dollars. When leaving the city center at night after dinner, the cabbies tried to rip us off by tripling the fare rate. We said no way and walked a couple blocks to hail an honest cab. Some people in our group didn't experience this, so I'd say just be aware of the fare listed on the cab before you get in.
