I made a short trip ( 3 days in total) to Bucharest and prior to this I did not know much about Romania. I found the Travelmaker agency on the internet and was impressed by their efficiency and responsiveness. They organized my airport pick up and the trip "Two castles in one Day". The tour guide picked us up at our hotel at 7.45 sharp in the morning and thus our discovery of Romania started. Our guide, Gabriel was an experienced tour guide with good humour and friendly attitude. The places we visited ( Peles, Brashov and Castle Bran) were amazingly beautiful. Although we went there late March, in the mountain it was snowing and below 0 degree. Transylvania and Walachia ( two of three main regions) are covered in this trip are gorgeous. Trip is well planned so we managed to visit all the places on the program. In terms of food, I really liked Romanian soups and traditional dessert Papanasi.

During my stay in Bucharest, I was advised to take the full day castle trip. I'm glad I listened because I didn't regret it one second. It's a full day of receiving great information about the country's history, during the time that you drive, you see a lot of the countryside. The castles are great. Peles Castle is in a beautiful surrounding, the view in the mountains is simply stunning. Bran Castle is less 'posh', but it holds something mythical, thanks to the legend of Dracula. Don't be scared about the long drive back, in case you stay in Bucharest, the whole day, everything you see, is well worth it. Our guide Andrei did a more than fantastic job. He kept giving us interesting information and didn't mind a joke now and then. Should you stay in Romania, don't miss out on this tour, highly recommended!

John.

"The only vampires in Romania are in Parliament."
We had a short time in Bucharest, Romania, but wanted to get to Transylvania and Castle Bran ("Dracula's castle"). We booked this tour online (very easy to do!), and were excited to get there. The morning of the tour, we were met by Gabriel. He was very professional, and as the other members of our tour had cancelled, we were able to get underway before the 8am start time.
Gabriel is extremely knowledgeable about Romanian history and the entire ride up to Sinaia we were treated to a Romanian history lesson beginning with the Roman invasion of Dacia and ending with the revolution of 1989 and Romania today. The tour for us included an Orthodox Monastery in Sinaia, Castle Peles, Brashov & the Black Church, and Castle Bran. The countryside is beautiful, even in the wintertime, and worth the time it took to see. If you have a spare day in Bucharest, this is a tour worth taking. Furthermore, it was the most reasonably priced of the online tours I found. Be aware that castle entry fees, photography fees and lunch are not included in the price of the tour - but in many of the other tours available those additional costs are also not included. Depending upon the group size and weather, the Black Church is not always available to visit due to time constraints.
Also of note, most museums in Bucharest, and Romania for that matter, are not open on Mondays.

We had 2 days staying in Bucharest and joined the day tour. It was awsome and we had a great time. The price was reasonable and the guide was professional, kind and spoke clear English. He explained the history of Romaia, the castle where we went, and so on. At the castle we did not wait the line and the guide arranged the great view restaurant for lunch.
I highly recommend to participate the day tour!

We had 4 days to spend in Romania, and decided to spend one day on a trip away from Bucharest. The 2 castles in a day trip was the perfect solution. We did more than we could ever have done alone, and our guide, Andrei, was a fount of useful and interesting information. We learnt a lot, saw a lot and, thanks to Andrei's pleasant manner, had a wonderful day that we'll remember for a long time to come.
