“..but do not limit yourself to have dinner, talk with Marie...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

The restaurant, near the Anglican Church in the "Icon's" Public Garden, is in the category of "medium-high" level. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, refined food, tasty and of course, not at the price of McDonald's ... Great and accurate service, with an absolutely professional staff ... To all of this, we have to add the presence of Marie, the owner. Energetic woman, a masterchief of the English Embassy in Bucharest for 33 years. One Person, with culture and generous heart, that gives much of the revenue of its assets in a foundation to help sick and underprivileged children all around the world.
Think that a little part of the bill, moved in an account to the need for a noble and generous purpose...
The experience is recommended, but do not limit yourself to have dinner, talk with Marie ... it's worth it!!. Believe me...

“A place with a story and good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

I love the garden as well as the welcoming interior. Food is very good and waiters are nice.
The wall with pictures of the famous restaurant guests over time is a good attraction for foreign tourists, as it builds a story about this place.

“Is there a chef ?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013 via mobile

I ask, because I just cannot see how a chef would think salmon, Brie and an unpeeled parsnip should have any association with being called appetizing ! They just didn't go to the extent that I can't see how a true chef wouldn't realise that. And then the taste lingers to an overcooked served just with potatoes. Food is quite key to restaurants and this ones is poor.

“fancy food and prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

The restaurant is placed on the vicinity of the Anglican Church in the neighborhood "Icoanei" Public Garden. The church square was re-landscaped, a street was closed, the pedestrian area and the sidewalk were extended (on public money) to create space for the restaurant terrace. Frequented by middle-top class persons the atmosphere was overall friendly and relaxed. During sport events the outside terrace became a sports bar with large flat screen TV taken outside and noisy supporters. The food is sophisticated, tasty and of course pricey. The service was prompt and the experience is recommendable.

“Another Bucharest Attraction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

Chez Marie Garden
Travellers Tourists and Ex-Pats living in Bucharest now have another excellent Chez Marie Restaurant in which to enjoy exceptionally good food at reasonable prices. This new restaurant had a wonderful covered patio, an open air terrace with its own wood fired pizza oven and uniquely in Bucharest a discrete “children’s secret garden” where parents can dine and watch their children having fun .
Inside there are two dining rooms both beautifully and elegantly decorated, one of which is thankfully non smoking. The food is excellent and offers everything from a quick superb value set lunch to casual or select dining. I especially recommend the Pizzas, the wonderful Duck Chez Marie and the sweets all of which are deliciously and sinfully decadent. Blessed with superb service and an excellent cellar this restaurant has it all, it is a real find.
It sits at no 44 strada General Bethelot and is within an easy stroll of the Bucharest’s renowned Athenaeum , Athenee Palace Hotel, the Calea Victoriei shops and the Cismigiu Park.
If you are at the other end of town in the diplomatic district near the Anglican Church try their other restaurant in the Str Dionisie Lupu which is just as good. You will certainly enjoy the quick terrace lunch or the fish baked in a salt crust and the fish and chips both of which are seriously fab!
