“New 2 star”
Reviewed July 8, 2011

This hotel is a classic two star hotel, but it is new, so it has its advantages for the price. Friendly staff that speaks perfect English. The room is small, sparsely furnished, and has a moderately comfortable bed. The sink is in the main room with the toilet and shower in their own areas adjacent. The advantages include free Internet (not fast), a flat screen TV with several English channels. Non-smoking rooms are available (rare in Bucharest). Sound proofing is not great, so you can hear neighbors, and was bothered by barking dogs (back side of the hotel). Rate does not include breakfast, 5Euro. Sheets are changed every 4th day and towels more frequently.

The hotel is one block from the Gara de Nord subway and many bus lines run nearby, so it is convenient to public transportation. Hello is next to the Ibis hotel and there is nothing of tourist interest in the area. In 20 minutes you can walk to the Hilton part of tourist land.

Given that it is new and the rate one of the best in Bucharest, I can recommend this hotel, but expect a 2.5 star at best.

I was nervous to stay here after reading the online reviews that complained about the weird bathroom situation - but it turned out to be completely fine! Then again I was traveling as a couple, if you are staying with someone you're not comfortable with then the frosted glass door for the toilet and shower could be slightly awkward.

The bed was much more comfortable than most hotel/hostel beds and the fact that they have A/C in all the rooms that you control yourself allows for awesome sleep quality.

Unlike other reviewers I did not find the front desk staff to be unfriendly, in fact I dealt with three different people at the front desk all of whom were polite and spoke English well. My only minor complaint is that the person we asked for information on the bus to the airport wasn't able to give us many details, and another person simply told us to take a taxi. We ended up being misinformed by a fellow traveler about the bus and had to take a taxi at the last minute. Would have been nice if someone at the front desk had been able to give us the appropriate bus info.

One last thing that was a bit strange, around 9am the housekeeping people knocked on our door and then entered our room as we were sleeping (despite our having locked the door). Can't understand why they didn't know that room was booked and occupied since check out isn't until noon and you need your key to make the elevator work so they should have known we were still there. Not a big deal, but definitely not professional.

The location is good for those coming in/out of the Gara de Nord train station, but its a few stops to get to Old Bucharest/places of interest to tourists. But the metro is cheap and easy to use so its no big deal to hop on the metro and go a few stops to do your sightseeing.

Overall the value of this place is great. We paid only 33 euro for one night, and for that you get a nice, clean, modern room, with A/C, and a very comfortable bed, plus free WiFi in the lobby, and free wired internet in the rooms (no WiFi in rooms!). I would definitely stay here again, what a deal!

The hotel is very basic, but very comfortable, clean and maintained well.
The price was very attractive, relatively to other hotels of same location and class.
On my opinion, for a business trip it's a perfect choice.

To be fair. Nice clean super small rooms, not expensive. Breakfast overpriced and not included. The variety is very Ceausescu style. The reception is a complete disaster, not friendly, never smile, not helpful and very arrogant. It’s a favour if they talk to you. God help you if you need any kind of information, help or assistance. The only reason we book the hotel was to stay one night and because its near the train station. Stay closer to the city center if not in a rush.

Located right by the northern train station. The entrance to underground train station is even closer. Although the whereabouts are a bit shabby it's still perfectly located when it comes to how easy it is to get almost everywhere in Bucharest very fast. The place itself is very clean and new, but the toilted and shower are somewhat strange. They are not a separate room but right in your room where you sleep. It's not a problem if you stay there alone, but with company it can be a problem when another person can hear your poo plumming into the water closet. Breakfast is 5 euros extra per person which is quite steep by Romanian standards.

As we arrived late night in Bucharest and we had to catch an early morning train to Sighisoara we decide to stay to this hotel for an overnight based on the good reviews.

The hotel is officially 2* but the service is of 3*. The rooms are rather small but nice decorated with modern design.

The staff was polite and helpful. Hotel's location is ideal if your travel with train as thecentral station is 2 mins on foot.

Good choice for short stay with great value for money.

A mere 3-minute walk from Bucharest's main train (and metro) station (Gara du Nord), Hello Hotel is the ideal option for those wanting to spend a night or two in the Romanian capital. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful upon arrival, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room, both in terms of cleanliness and facilities. The flat screen TV was a nice touch (though the hotel doesn't seem to offer as many channels as other hotels/b&bs). There is free wifi access for those who need it, but the fact that this hotel is right next door to Hotel Ibis means you can use latter's computer/internet facilities (@ 10 lei per hour) if you don't have wifi connections or a laptop to hand.

If there is one criticism, then it's to do with the rather awkward curtains, which are quite hard to open/close, and rather flimsy (they're attached to the railings by a strip of velcro, so if you tug too hard, they will come off!).

All in all though - great location, clean and modern rooms, great value!

To get to / from Banaesa airport, take bus 205.
