“Probably the best Museum in Chissinau”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

Covers a lot of the Moldovan history, goes back about 200 years and gives you the opportunity to find out how inportant Romanians, Russians & Ukrainians have been in the lives Moldovans.
Again I would say that it does woth a visit.

“the real history”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

history is a very puzzling thing in moldova. You can hear all sort of confusing things. if you really want to have a glimpse into the genuine history of this country, come to this museum.

“Fairly Well Displayed Antiquities in An Historic Building.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

This museum is conveniently located in the city center on a road that runs parallel to the main street (Blvd Stefan cel Mare). It is diagonal to the Stefan cel Mare park. Adults are 10 Lei per person (extra charge for a photo card). The exhibition is mostly on the top floor of a rather large, elegant, older building. Most rooms are monitored by an attendant (sometimes they turn the lights on as you enter). Display cases include an English translation. There are numerous benches for those who wish to pace themselves. We most enjoyed the displays about ancient history and the Middle Ages. Displays from more recent times seemed to lack English translations. The relevance of these items was unknown (perhaps local war heroes?). Allow 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours. Note, the restaurant across the street, Symposium, was recommended by our guide. We were not hungry but I share this bit of information for other visitors.

“The National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova is for you if you have any interest in history, of course!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

This is a beautiful middle sized museum, For simply curious people can be visited in less than 2 hours, double if you are an history fanatic. Free entrance on last Thursday of each month. The first picture iillustrating this museum in this page of TRIPADVISOR, in fact does NOT show the National Museum of archeology but the Etnographic Museum (it's the photo with a moorish arch).

“A snapshot of Moldovian History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

If you visit only one historical site in Chisinau, you must come here first.
It provides a better background on Ștefan cel Mare and why he is the great hero to all of Moldova.
If you think a visit to the Whitehouse in Washington, D.C. is boring, you would not like this either. But if you have any imagination and curiosity for the past, you will definitely be entertained.
