“Your a long way from home.”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

On our European tour this was the furthest point from home, we arrived in Zagreb at the Hotel Astoria just a few hundred yards from the city centre. On check in the reception informed us we had been upgraded to a junior suit as the car park was having some work done to it and they would have to keep moving our car for the workmen. Our room was enormous and of the highest quality with everything you would need, the view out of our room was of the car park so not much to look at but is was so quite at night. The Hotel staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was the usual Best Western experience, everything you could think of and then some more. Well worth a visit for a few days.

We stayed here 2 nights at the end of a beautiful 3 weeks vacation in Croatia.
The hotel is very well located, close to points of interest in Zagreb, and very easy to find.
Staff is extremely efficient and nice.
Room was a little small by north american standards, and the king size bed was definitely not what we are used to, but the room was very clean, Wi-Fi was working fine, and the breakfast was fairly good. They even provided us with a "lunch bag" for breakfast because we had to make a very early check-out on the last morning.
Good value for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a large room and king size bed, it is worth the price. Don't expect a nice view...

I spent one night here in May 2014 on my way from Split to Lake Bled. The location is excellent. It is just a few blocks to the train station and a few blocks to the main square. The room I had was nice and quiet. Very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and there were a lot of choices. I agree with the comments about not being concerned about the graffiti. Graffiti is everywhere.

This is not your typical Best Western found in the states! The Hotel Astoria is a class hotel in this capital of Croatia. Very handy to central Zagreb and great value for the cost. Fancier hotels exist but this is a very good value for the cost.
Staff were very accommodating and helpful.

Spent 3 nights here during a tour of Croatia. The hotel is lovely, with a very substantial and lovely breakfast buffet. We had no trouble with the wi-fi during our stay. The Front Desk staff was extremely helpful with a number of our needs, including helping us get tickets for a ballet that was premiering at the National Theater. We had a wonderful experience in Zagreb.

The hotel is a short walk (except in the rain!) from many of Zagreb's important sites. Will definitely choose this hotel next time we are in Zagreb (and we will be back!).

This was very convenient to the train station. The hotel and room were very stylish, with dark wood, heavy curtains, spacious room and bathroom and a view of the cathedral steeple. Sumptuous breakfast buffet, very helpful staff, coffee, tea, water and cookies always out in the lobby.
Wifi went out one night. As others noted, the street looked sketchy, but we always felt very safe.

This hotel is a great value for the money. It is easy walking distance from the train station. Do not be concerned about the neighborhood. The graffiti can give you concern - did us upon our arrival.
But graffiti is everywhere in Zagreb. We stayed three nights and never were concerned about our safety. The room was way above average at very reasonable price. The hotel is a bit off from the tourist attractions but within walking distance - I use a cane when walking.

The only negative about the hotel was the internet service. At times the WiFi was available from our room and at times it was nonexistent. It did not seem to be dependent on the time of day. We could be connected to the internet and without warning we had no service. There always good was a good connection in the lobby.
