We were under-impressed. If you are not from Europe and are not familiar with old walled cities then I am sure that you will find it amazing, a trace of what used to be... But if you are used to walled cities, which we were, this old gate is nothing very special.

Under the gate there is a small grotto dedicated to Our Lady, with a St. Anthony guarding it on the side. Very lovely, and the gate itself is also pretty with the streets to it and from it all interesting (one full of Museums the other leading to St. Marks. We went there twice in the few days were there.

I consider myself a Roman Catholic, and I've found this attraction in Zagreb very interesting, it has all sorts of gratefulness to Holy Mother (Virgin Mary) and that really amazed me... how people get religious when somebody has an issue in life...
by the way, it has a monument to Dora next to it (Dora was a character in August Šenoa's book Zlatarevo zlato which means goldmaker's gold)
regards

If not the historic value, than the little temple that is hidden within this little gate. The gate is part of the walk up to St. Marcus.

This gate survived the fire in Zagreb and is now considered a shrine. It is an interesting spot and provides some relief from the hustle of the Upper Town. It is worth the time to see.
