The stone gate is a historic site but is also treated as a holy shrine by the citizens of the city so visitors need to be aware of this when visiting. There is a lady selling candles all day, and people praying at the shrine set into the wall. On Sunday we saw a group of people praying there.

It takes a while to really take this place in. Special to locals. A gate turned chapel. As you will probably enter the upper town at least one through this gate, take a few minutes to stop and absorb

whats impresses about this place is that nearly evertime you pass by there are people praying or resting in silence. The candles, the votive marmor plates on the walls and the little chappel give this place a mystique atmosphere in the busy center of Zagreb.

Important piece of Croatian history so worth visiting. Light a candle for a small donation here and immerse yourself in the historical significance of this site.
