This was our first meal experience in Zagreb.
We were a group of four, staying just around the corner. We went in to the restaurant in the afternoon.
It seemed nice enough & the manager welcomed us and showed us to a table.
He recommended a meal of beef and pasta to us which gave the impression that it was their speciality. We said it sounded nice, but decided to look at the menu.
We ordered drinks from the very friendly waiter, and continued to look at the menu. We decided what we were going to have to eat, and thought the prices seemed reasonable.
Nobody came to take our order, but then the waiter turned up with 4 of the 'speciality', dishes that were recommended. We decided to accept these, as we were really hungry.
Although we all generally order different items, so that we can share. In saying that my partner could not eat hers, even though she was very hungry.
The meals were not special at all!! The beef was ok, but the gravy was quite salty and the pasta was actually gnocchi?
When we got the bill it was a fair bit more expensive than for the items we would have chosen from the menu. Got the impression they were just trying to offload what was left over from lunch, as it was about 3pm when we arrived there.
Never saw the manager again, after he had originally spoken to us. Didn't bother complaining as we decided to put it down to experience, and not go back there again. Should say that the waiting staff were very good!
We can accept the fact that you can sometimes have a meal that you're not happy with. But we were not pleased that something was pushed on to us, which was not only expensive but also not very nice.
