“Mirogoj Cemetery”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

Well worth a visit. This beautifully maintained cemetery boast magnificent family history and architecture. With some of the most decorative graves and crypts we have ever seen. The grounds are beautifully maintained with majestic old trees lining the pathways and a magnificent historic wall surrounding the grounds.

“Nice and messy cemetery”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Zagreb cemetery is truly magnificent, huge cascades adorn its entry-My objection relates to development and maintenance of the graves that were neglected and untidy

“My heart bleeding, my eyes crying, my feet aching”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

You haven't seen Zagreb if you haven't seen this cemetary!
Don't go there without documentation form the tourist office: "Mirogoj" 84 pages of information.
Don't be silly or too courageous: just get to the cathedral and get on a bus there; DON'T get on a tram at Jelacica, which is said to bring you there also... Correct, 4 stops, but you will have to walk another 2 kilometer uphill....
Take your documentation with you, and take your time, and have patience, and ask people at the cimetary for help: many speak German!
Personally I've been at the grave of president Tudzam, and I have prayed there... Then I got lost, but people helped me to find the grave of my sportshero: Drazen Petrovic; there I have prayed and cried a lot... then I have visited the grave of Ena Begovic, the actress: I have prayed and smiled...
Trying to be a hero I walked back to the tramstop, making a rest at the public hospital. They still don't get used to walking tourists yet...a doctor came out and wanted to practise his English...(perfect!) and started to talk about Drazen Petrovic....
Unfinished visit... I have to go back... so many graves I didn't see...

“One of the best parts of Zagreb”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

The cemetery is composed of beautiful arcades and well-maintained family plots. The famous and not-so-famous are here. What is touching is that there are no distinctions for religious preference here; a Muslim, a Christian, an athetist, a Jew--no matter what, they are all together. A tribute to Zagreb's citizens recognizing what matters most--remembrance.

“The most beautiful cemetary ever!”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Cemeteries from all around the world can be ashamed! Mirogoj is an architectural master-piece. Arcades from famous Croatian sculpture Herman Bolle are beyond beautiful.. Such peaceful area full of magnificent graves and sculptures are the most beautiful part of Zagreb! Must see!
