“Memories at Mirogoj”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2013

We often explore cemeteries as they are filled with history. Mirogoj was no disappointment. We met several people willing to share their families histories and to explain memorial markings of those who died in the Holocaust.

“Mirogoj Cemetery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

Great monument of architecture. The necropolis, which must visit while in Zagreb. A place for reflection on the influence of history on the life of ordinary, extraordinary people, and entire nations.
It is worth to enter the main entrance to the cemetery. There you can see the enormity of monumental arcades. The view is impressive to visitors.

“Beautiful cemetery worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

Outside of Arlington Memorial and Normandy, I have never thought of visiting cemeteries as a tourist activity, but Mirogoj is truly exceptional from the tall ivy covered walls to the interesting "VIP" area of famous artists, politicians and writers. President Tudjman, the "father" of the current Croatian state, is buried in Mirogoj. There is a Jewish section as well as a section for German soldiers killed during WWII.

“Most grandiose cemetery ever seen”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

Very peaceful, well tended, & impressive for the number of visitors distributing flowers amongst their loved ones' graves. Worth a visit, & accessible by bus from town.
