“Centre of town”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Centre of the city which is the main meeting place for locals. Few sweet dessert stalls around in winter as well as pop up events such as the chocolate fair. Central location for trams too.

Nice square, interesting buildings, many people, tourists. Impressive monument with historical as well as political value for the Croats.

“A great place for a party”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

When we arrived in Zagreb the Advent celebrations were on and there were concerts in the main square during the day and the evening. Later on the music was inside the large wooden chalet in the square, Inside there were bars selling hot wine and beer along with hot dogs. It was a great atmosphere.

“Transit hub”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

I would have bumped this to 4 stars if there hadn't been some kind of sporting event going on the whole time we were in Zagreb. There was some kind of tent set up in the middle of the square, plus lots of banners and those annoying blow-up things that wave around. Really detracted from the ambience.

The square is one of the big transit hubs, so we were here several times. It was quite convenient for those purposes.

“Impossible to miss if you go to Zagreb”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Lots of action. Trams, people, cafes.. and near Xmas, the stalls. it is a hub of activity but it is really a connecting place. from here you can go to the market, the many outdoor restaurants - look for the statue of the 'sun' and if you like architecture, try to find the Post building and get inside, the ceiling is amazing!
