This is a nice, simple hotel close to downtown Zagreb. Definitely no frills, but certainly not a dump. The room was nice, quite and clean and the internet service was quite good. The shower was very small, but worked fine other than that. Nice breakfast spread as well. I'm very likely to stay there again.

We arrived by bus and walked about a mile to the hotel, which is located across from the train station. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the included breakfast had a wide variety of foods, including bacon, eggs, sausage and ham. The hotel is located an easy 10 minute walk from the center of the city. Our room was clean and the free Internet worked well.

Room Tip: The hotel is located on a main street. We were in the back and had no problem with noise.

Visited Zagreb on 19th .09.2013..
Booked the Central hotel because of location close to the rail station and the centre,
Very old fashioned approach from person working on the reception..
There was a guy who had a very dirty suit full of stains..
The room had a dirty carpet and you could smell the smoke. On the edge of he corner was some old painting come of the wall and all over the carpet.
In the morning breakfast was the man in charge of filling up the coffee etc, and he had a very old fashioned behaviour talking to the foreigners in Croatian language.. There was woman going to refill her cup and he was just pointed for self service..she could not understand...
Other lady from the bar area was also helping to clear the tables from the breakfast but she needs some training as she left dirty cups all over the place .. She wear some shoes called borosane which looked like from 1960'
Then some main guy come to eat with the guest.. He s obviously big face but he could at least remove his name tag as looked very unprofessional to eat with the guests together...
Very very old fashioned approach to the todays hospitality business,...
The bathroom was clean but needed update...
Location is very good...
They also let us leave our luggage there till we catch the train....

We only stayed here because the Best Western up the street was completely full.

The hotel was easy to find coming in on the train (right across the street) but it is quiet. Breakfast was ok but staff is to controlling and you have trouble trying to serve yourself to anything. The rooms were clean but extremely small. It was best for one person to sit on the bed while the other person moved around.

When we asked the reception staff about where someting was all we got was a shrug and a "I don't know", We had to pick up a car in town and on the map it looked close by; but the man at reception just shrugged and started to leave. I told him I thought it was by the Westin and he then took the map from me and proceded to point out the street I wanted and then marked it so heavy that the street name was unreadable as he punched a big hole in the map, REAL CUTE

It is hard to believe that this hotel was a rick steves pick.

Located right next to the train station, Hotel Central was very convenient for us as we had a train to catch very early in the morning.

Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable - exactly what we needed. Wifi wasn't very good from the room but we got good reception on the ground floor.

The hotel is located a 15-20 minute walk from the city centre. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Convenient near rail station, short walk to tourist sites and shopping. Underground mall within a block. Very quiet. Good food. Efficient and friendly staff. Easy to use free wi fi with printer or use your own in room or at their desks. Very small bar/lounge with smoking permitted.

The desk staff were very good, the room was fine and the location was very good indeed for train travellers. Wifi was fine.

The breakfast was not so good. No fruit to have with cereals. Tea was pre made and stewed to death. I had great difficulty in asking for a cup of hot water and a tea bag. I stayed here two nights to and from Dubrovnik. The second breakfast was a bit of a fiasco when I said I fresh tea. One of the waiters threw a very loud tantrum. Simply not acceptable.

Room Tip: Ask for a back room if tram noise will worry you. If there is double glazing it was unsuccessful at...
