Great location , if you have the opportunity book the suite , it comes with a piano !
And the price difference is worth the extra room and little balcony . Breakfast is served in a gorgeous old world room
, and was more than adequate with polite staff .
Be warned checkin will not be granted before 1400 , we arrived at 1330 , they will store your bags .

Great location
The hotel building is beautiful from outside and the location couldn’t be better. It’s minutes away from all the major attractions in the old city. However, if you are travelling in a car, please call for parking in advance. We were lucky to get an underground parking nearby, otherwise there was no parking available in front of the hotel.
The lobby, dining and common area are beautifully done. However the rooms need renovation definitely and there is this musty smell inside. Mattress also is not very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very lavish and perhaps the best that we had during our entire stay in Croatia. Staff were helpful and friendly.

TRADITIONAL ELEGANCE WITH MODERN TOUCHES
Not only is the hotel's location ideal for visiting the old city of Zagreb, it is also impressive from the first glance at the traditionally styled lobby and entrance to the friendliness of the staff. While the hotel is traditionally elegant, the rooms have been refurbished and provide all modern amenities that a guests could expect. Cleanliness is top-notch and so is the response of hotel staff to requests from guests. The breakfast buffet is scrumptious and offers dishes for every taste. It is served in a nice and very comfortable dining room.

Nice location
First off the parking - unless you pre-book a space before arriving then you have to park in public parking. The hotel has about 6 spaces and if you have a small car (fiesta,smart car) then this should suffice any larger car you will not get parked the spaces are too small. No one comes out on arrival and if like us you are a stranger to the country and driving, the tram lanes are a little tricky to maneuver so this is a little annoying as they make you check in and give your full details before anyone goes out to get your bags so the car has to be moved in that time. Public parking is over the square opposite the hotel not directly near the hotel and you pay per day for this parking. All this before you get in the door with your bags first impressions we were not impressed - 3pm is check in but not for us we arrived 3.30pm and room still not ready so another negative with the parking fiasco - a room not ready by 3.30pm? the room/suite we had was spacious and agree with everyone else small lift - a old building - does look and feel tired but that would not matter if the staff enjoyed working there, Breakfast - I had to sit and listen to a young girl wipe knifes and throw them in a tray one after the other is was like a loud dripping tap, clearly summer job for her and not interested in her job but when your on vacation you don't need to see or hear someone's lack of interest in service, I will not describe the look on her face you can imagine that. The whole general feel of reception and the service team just lack any sort of interest there are no warm welcoming smiles or any sense of humour or willingness to assist, certainly not a hotel I want to return to, we were supposed to return to this hotel on our last day before our flight out of Zagreb but cancelled and went elsewhere. The spa is dated but I have to say the relaxing massage I received was excellent and after tiring journey it was just what was needed - you would need to be aware that it is a male masseur I was not given a choice. The room service I have to give credit we ordered some very nice meals from room service and arrived hot so credit is due there - the kitchens are orgainsed and the food is of a standard. The best part of this hotel is the location and the view out onto small squares of manicured gardens and its quiet spot in Zagreb - we enjoyed the location we just stayed too long 3 days was too long here.

This hotel had old world charm and panache
The Palace Hotel is set in the center of Zagreb, immediately next to a beautiful park with gorgeous plantings of flowers. This hotel reminds me of the Plaza in New York City with its old-world charm. The hotel has since undergone several renovations and currently is home to some fantastic artwork by the famous Croatian artist, Branka Brmbota. Her paintings combine the look of Gibson Girls with portraits of famous Zagreb sites. The stained-glass ceiling dome in the dining room is an art deco joy to behold.

Today, the hotel merges the comfort of a Western style hotel with a warm retro-feel created by its antique furniture. The Palace Hotel Zagreb is the ideal choice for tourists as it’s walkable to the main square, museums, parks and boutiques. Our room was spacious with sufficient closets and the bathroom is not cramped like you would find in most European hotels. It contains a tub shower, toilet, bidet, and room around the sink for storage.

Our room was coupled with breakfast which was buffet-style. It had everything you could imagine from croissants & Danish to eggs, breakfast meats and grilled vegetables. There was an ample variety and selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts, dry and hot cereals. You could order your coffee, lattes or tea any way you desired. With such a sumptuous repast, you didn’t need to eat another thing until dinner. However, we always found a way to be tempted by a mid-afternoon slice of pizza or gelato. The staff was efficient and accommodating. We would heartily recommend the Palace Hotel for a stay in Zagreb.

Historic with Great Location
Spent one night here on our way to Split. Within walking distance to a center square that had music and small vendor fronts selling beer, wine and other things. Parking is a bit of a challenge as the hotel has someone come out to direct you where to park. Our room was immaculate. We had comfortable twin beds and we each had a robe & slippers to use. Bathroom was very nice but the blow dryers looked like a hand-held vacuum cleaner! However, I brought my own so that was not an issue. It was very warm in Zagreb so the air conditioning could have been a bit better. Elevators are very small but that wasn't an issue for us. Great breakfast was included - we'd stay here again!
