We only stayed in this hotel for one night and it was okay. Beds were uncomfortable and the service was okay. The hotel is a historic hotel and older and was not as nice compared to the hotels we stayed in Split and Dubrovnik. However, the location is great, walking distance from all the sites. My children and husband complained that it smelled but I was okay. The rooms were clean and well maintained.More

Grand Old European Hotel
This is a grand old style European hotel with a nice location across the street from a park. The rooms were rather small and the furniture was not fancy but the lovely common areas and location make this an excellent choice. One minor note - they are picky about hanging laundry only in the bathroom. If you hang anything to dry outside the bathroom it will be taken for laundry and you will be billed. Probably not an issue for most people.

Wedding room block reservation, pre wedding ceremony cocktail and day after wedding luncheon
We are beyond pleased with the reception and service of all of the staff at Palace Hotel for our daughter’s destination wedding weekend in Zagreb! Our out of town guests were thrilled with the beauty and history of this gorgeous hotel! The staff was beyond professional and exceeded all of our expectations in terms of service, professionalism and friendliness.
Kudos to Daniel for all of his extra special touches, Darko for his professionalism and helpfulness to all of our guests as they came and left, Marija for making sure the terrace was ready for our musicians and guests on Saturday, Božica at the reception desk was always friendly and smiling, Ana who was a major contributor to the pre ceremony party in the cafe and terrace with her smiles and professionalism,
* the catering staff- the appetizers were not only beautiful but delicious!!
Margarita who arranged all of our out of town guests stays and last, but not least…Petra- director of sales and marketing…who made all of this possible!!!!!

Thank you to the whole Palace team who went above and beyond to make our daughter’s wedding weekend beyond amazing!! I’m sorry if I have forgotten to include some of your names, but …Thank you to ALL of you!! HVALA!!

Historical charm in a central location
Palace Hotel is historical building with over 100 years of existence and I was told the oldest hotel in Zagreb. Its got an old world charm of its own. The hotel is also very centrally located in Zagreb. Its walking distance to the central square of Ban Josip Jelačić Square and the high street. The area around the hotel is excellent for walks in the evenings. The farmers market is just across the square and a must visit.

The rooms have been updated however do not expect the amenities of a modern hotel. Minor gripes like lifts can barely accommodate 4 people and tend to slam shut. Bathrooms are cranky, work well most of the time but do show their age sometimes. Having being designed before flat screen tvs, rooms do not have slick placement of electronics. Again not designed for A/C, the room alternates between being warm or freezing.

I would recommend the hotel for its location and price. Keep your expectation of amenities low and enjoy the hospitality.

Great hotel close to centre of Zagreb
The hotel is close to the main square (600 metres)and all downtown attractions in Zagreb. The hotel more than met our requirements. Rooms are good, reasonable size, breakfast was excellent and staff very pleasant and most willing to assist. Highly recommended

Great location and amazing breakfast
This lovely hotel is within walking distance of many of Zagreb’s tourist attractions. Our room was small, simple, clean, and adequate. The buffet breakfast was extensive with many local options, fresh fruit, cold food, and hot food.

We only had one minor incident during our stay. When checking in, I told the clerk that we were staying two nights – one night on my reservation and the next night on a separate reservation booked by our tour group. She acknowledged this arrangement. The following day, our hotel keys stopped working. When we went to the desk, a tall male desk clerk berated us harshly for not checking out and back in again. The female clerks quickly tried to make up for his rudeness by being extra polite. This man’s behavior was terrible and in stark contrast to the rest of the staff that was uniformly helpful and polite.
