“Clean modern hotel in Maksimir are”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

I stayed in this hotel when going to watch the Scotland v Croatia game in the Maksimir Stadium home to Dinamo Zagreb. The hotel is really easy to get to provided you don't mind a 10 min walk from the Maksimir tram stop and is well situated if you want to explore the zoo/park or take in a local international/football game. The main square is only 10 mins away by tram (buy ticket from a Tisak which is basically a stall selling newspapers/drinks etc) and has a small arena with various events throughout the day and night. The old town is right off this square as is a busy market and a long street lined with cafés.

The hotel itself is clean, modern and most importantly (if you don't like heat) cool throughout even on a hot day. If you are thinking of giving Zagreb a miss on a trip to Croatia don't the people are really friendly and even on a Saturday night it is remarkably relaxed and trouble free.

I was here for four nights in April. The hotel is situated a short walk from the terminal of tram 5. Take to Bukoavic then walk down the road named Maksimir with park on your right. Then straight on at roundabout then next left.

The hotel is situated next to a hospital, 2 café bars, 2 bakeries and a supermarket. The room is of modern design and well furnished. The bathroom is clean and practical. The TV has a selection of channels but mostly just CNN for English speaking customers.

The bed was comfortable and the hotel has free Wi-Fi but this can be a bit sporadic in service but it’s free so never mind.

The staff spoke good English and the information provided was clear.

The breakfast was a selection of cold meats, yoghurts, bakery products and cereals. A small selection of hot options includes chicken frankfurters, sausages & scrambled eggs.

I found the hotel very good but one thing that took the shine off it for me was that I had paid for my room and city tax. Then I wanted to ask where I could store my luggage but the receptionist decided to answer the phone first and leave me standing there. When that call ended another came in so more standing around. Eventually it was pointed out where it was but hardly distinguishable as it had a small case symbol only.

Good hotel, location a bit so-so (but the hotel can’t grow legs move after all), sketchy Wi-Fi and so-so staff.

Rented two rooms for 3 nights. Hotel rooms are very clean and quiet on the floor we stayed on. Continental breakfast was quite good and the breads were very fresh. They served a chocolate croissant that almost melted in ones mouth (not the dry chewy things served at many hotels). We are are still talking about the breads we sampled. I had a rental car so location was not an issue for us. Price was very reasonable and was the lowest cost per night out of all lodging we stayed in during our 10 days in Croatia. Hotel staff speaks English and are very helpful. WiFi works in the lobby, but I could not get a signal on our floor. Parking behind the hotel is free, and we had no trouble finding parking even though it look a bit limited for the size of hotel. Access to parking is a one lane ramp to above the parking garage and out and access it located to the right of the parking garage entrance.

The Hotel Rebro was very close to the beautiful Maskimir Park which is well worth a visit, but it is not in the center of Zagreb. It was approximately a 15 minute tram journey and a 10 minute, if you have a car it is ideal as it has a large carpark underneath the hotel. If you are travelling to the hotel via tram from the main bus station then you will need the number 5 heading towards Maskimir Park. The trams are pretty regular so you should not have to wait too long to get there and it will only cost 12 Kuna which is about £1.50. The breakfast was good but not amazing it was a simple continental breakfast. The view was amazing from the room which was pretty big. The shower pressure was great. There is a bakery, supermarket and pharmacy are right next door. There was free wifi but unfortuntely we were in the only room that it did not reach 205 anywhere else it was fine. The staff were very helpful and spoke fluent english. The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard with modern decor.

This hotel offered exactly what I was looking for-not in a city center, but yet close if going with a car, great service and reasonable price. One great bonus for me is that it was close to the Zoo, and I think they even have some packages or something similar, and since I love visiting Zoos, this really made a difference during my stay. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. And yes, it is close to a hospital, but the design is so hip, that you really don't have that hospital feel.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms overlooking the Maksimir park.

The hotel is very average. Nothing special.
Far from city center, in a quite zone.
The rooms are quite simple (no double beds available - only option to get 2 single beds together) and the experience is not so good. Is next to an hospital and the hotel just looks like an hospital itself.

1 night stay, sleep mode only, was ok.
Average breakfas.

I have nothing negative to say about this Hotel. The room was clean, had all the essentials, very modern and staff were helpful. However, I had a very hard time finding this hotel with directions and a map and would not have found it if a local had'nt recognized that Rebro was a hospital name as well. The area, Maksimir is just outside the city centre.
If you walk for about 10 minutes you can take a tram that will take you right to the centre.
