This museum's website emphasizes its very large and important collection of historical artifacts from non-European cultures. Its staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and like many Croatians they are justifiably proud of their own country's contributions to Western culture. When we visited, a display of Asian saris was scheduled to open in a few days, and the staff gave us a very informative private tour. But equally interesting were its displays of folk costumes from all the regions of Croatia. The museum is located on Zagreb's "horseshoe" of cultural attractions, so you can easily see it as part of a rainy day tour of several museums. It didn't rain while we were in Zagreb, but the Ethnographic Museum was well worth seeing anyway!
