Description: "Restaurant AGAVA" - a place where fine dining truly meets a casual atmosfere. This is very special place, a bit hidden, a bit shy...A classic Italian restaurant filled with subtle dark colours and distinctive lightning. Wide windows provide an unique view, and in spring and summer the green terrace will attract you immediately. The restaurant was opened in 2005. It is runned by Belizar Milos (owner/partner) who is also the main chef, responsible for many mediterranean delices and beyond. So, come to the number 39 of Tklaciceva street... It'll take you 39 staircases to come to your little hiding place.

The food was great, the wine was great, the location/people watching is great, and the service is beyond excellent!! We were there on a busy night in May 2014 and our server still made sure to give us ample time to discuss different wines, food pairings, and shared some great stories with us about his background and life in Croatia. I truly appreciated our wonderful server and wish I could remember his name now. He sold us a bottle of wine that he said were in limited supply, and it was phenomenal. This was my final celebratory dinner after 3+ months working in Zagreb, and it was perfect!

Look, I have eaten in country's and restaurants both good and bad. Zagreb on a Friday night is a charming city; it's beer is good and cheap, it's good largely cheap and delicious.

Agava is a metaphor for the city; fully paid up London clone? No. Welcoming, professional, serving delicious food with excellent service ? Yes

Our waiter was one of the few I have met who really loved his job and was excellent at it. He dealt with my mother who didn't like the wine we ordered charmingly bringing her others to try. And he spoke at least 3 languages!

The food was fresh, flavourful and all well balanced. We had baked octopus with lots of veg, sea trout and pasta with prawns and chorizo creamy sauce. Oh and 1 chocolate torte made with almonds (pictured on this website by others) and each one we all agreed we would eat again. What better compliment than that?

I have just written a long review and lost it. So I will be brief this time.

If you only eat out once in Zagreb, you should go here. This is the second time we have visited Croatia, and it is the best meal we have ever had there.

It is possible to eat more cheaply, but for the quality of the food and wine, and the standard of the service, Agava is excellent value.

We visited two restaurants in Zagreb and both were excellent. This restaurant had excellent seafood pasta and it was light and fresh. My husband had the traditional beef dish with gnocchi and he said it was also excellent . We both chose traditional entree and recommend the menu. The waiter was very friendly, entertaining and made the night even more enjoyable
