It was an old monastery, not far from the city center. Now it is a nice place with traditional furniture and a huge selection of old and new bulgarian specialties. Very kind hospitality: bread and salt to welcome your coming.

A novel idea - all menus have different monasteries on their wooden covers and the dishes hail from most of these. The salads and vegetables were great and fresh, the meat dishes were good and the absolutely fantastic waiter was charming, helpful and made the evening even better than it would otherwise have been. There was a folk trio serenading tables which we enjoyed too. A really pleasant experience.

Setting & Restaurant decorations are eye catching & wonderful, service is ok, food can improve a lot & also be flexible if one want a portion of veg instead of potatoes....but that`s another story.... Food is a bit on the expensive side for Sofia...while all drinks are super expensive for Sofia... Like coffe for 3.80 lev, mineral water for 4.20 lev for 1 ltr... & cheapest wine starting @ 28 Lev a 750ml bottle... we skiped desert. so it`s not fair to comment... another thing that might be annoying for some is that when you sit they bring you a pcs of bread with paprika a side & they charge 1.90 lev per pcs of bread there is, immaterial if it`s eaten or not... which is more like a polite/hidden service charge.... all in all it`s a bit like a tourist trap...more tourists then local which it isnt a good sign at all... would not return for sure...the live band playing Russian & Bulgarian music are the tonic for a disapointing night ...they were good and the only reason that we left tips was cause of them only...

Very difficult menu, over 30 pages. Had to ask for help to pick few traditional dishes. Good service, even Greek speaking staff. Some of the dishes were delicious some other not so good. Strange decoration trying to be as touristic as possible. Rather expensive.
