We stayed in a private room there for one night. We chose a private room because we were dead tired and had an early bus the following morning.
Unfortunately the private rooms aren't terribly private- they are in a separate building, and all face onto an interior corridor and have big glass windows with no curtains facing the corridor. This means when anyone turns their lights on at any hours of the night, your room is flooded with light as well, which isn't what you expect, especially for 16 Euros a person, quite expensive for Sofia.
The bed was good and the sheets clean, but there was also huge windows facing the outside and for some reason the hostel bought completely transparent curtains that did nothing for light.
