A very big rather dated but acceptable place for three nights with large comfortable rooms, free super fast wi-fi, friendly staff and a central location within a short distance of tram and bus stops.

Huge room, nicely presented with adequate toiletries, up to date TV on cable and a good breakfast. The bar and nightclub dives are worth a miss, but take a 5 minute walk to the old covered market where cheap local beers are served at a couple of bars with character and staff who speak pretty good English and love to talk about working in the UK. This month the equivalent of £1.20 a pint and they brew it with plenty of hops!

Room Tip: Try for room at the rear, the lifts and stairs are a warren and very confusing so leave time to find...

Stayed 4 times for business trips. Huge rooms, but evidently a bit old. Very rich breakfast. was amazed by design of the restaurant (just like in gallery). Got company discount, but the regular prices are very high, price/quality ratio is not good for regular price. Really liked swimming pool and sauna! Wi-fi router in every room = 5+!

We booked this hotel because other reviews said spacious rooms and we were not disappointed. The room was huge, with the biggest bed ever. Facilities were good in room (apart from lack of iron and a little short of towels and loo roll - but this was soon rectified)

It really stood out as different in terms of all the artwork - it was everywhere! The breakfast room was completely covered in paintings and not for the faint hearted. The breakfast selection was good and only criticism would be the hyper-active waitresses who swooped down and removed any plate, glass or cup which hadn't been touched in 20 seconds. They also kept rearranging the food and stirring the hot stuff! Less ponytail swishing would also be good as I was hit in the eye by one over excited waitress who pranced upon and down the room in a ver tiring fashion!

Staff all spoke good English and were polite and helpful. The bell boy was so helpful with our luggage, of which we had a lot.

It was like a dive-bar nightclub: dimly lit, smelling of smoke (not in the halls, but definitely in room 502), and the neighborhood was rather seedy... with battered sidewalks and a sex store on every block. Across the street was the mega-giant Sin City night club. Plus, the hotel was on a noisy, major boulevard...with all rooms just meters away from that street. Overall though only a half mile from the city center, it's on the poor and run down west side of the city center. South and east of the city center are far nicer neighborhoods.

My local friends tell me that this particular neighborhood surround Hotel Anel is planned for redevelopment... And that's why the area is so bad: no one wants to improve it until after it's been bulldozed.

When I asked to check-out earlier than my booking.com prepaid reservation, the impersonal clerk gave me the run-around... calling his manager... calling his manager's manager... and finally explaining that I (unknowingly) had a special rate in which I had prepaid for the week... and that they just couldn't do it. He offered no help but simply asked me to contact booking.com to work things out. I didn't fight it on day 1, but did finally manage to call booking.com (they were extremely helpful). I got them to release the prepayment commitment on day 2, and the Hotel Ael acquiesced. I felt like I got out of jail. The Grand Hotel, Radisson Blu are situated in much, much nicer parts of town. I'd also consider Les Fleurs for its location.

Granted, the room was huge, and clean. And there was a pool. And there was interesting art everywhere. But the dim decor wasn't tasteful, but rather just dim. And the 40 year old sofa that sagged in the middle?!? I ultimately found another place Sofia Suite Hotel, just opened in July 2013, for nearly half the price, and far superior. High ceilings, brightly lit, friendly staff, hip part of town. Not so near the downtown but with taxis so cheap, the Sofia Suite Hotel comes in far less pricey and far nicer.

The hotel is like a modern art exhibition at the entrance there are several human size statues made out of metal, the reception is made partly of onyx which looks beautiful because of the light that falls on it.
Stairs made of glass brings you to the bar area which is full of modern art paintings.
Each room has at least a statue in it and some modern paintings and i have seen 4 rooms so far.
The room with the most paintings is the breakfast room where you can find over 100 of them, and it is like having breakfast in a museum.Besides that they serve a complete breakfast foe European standards with fruits, several varieties of cheese, eggs, beans, vegetables, milk, corn flakes, several varieties of meat including Serrano ham etc.
