Ok, not sure it's a 5-star by US or UK standards but definitely a very solid 4-star. Fantastic value through web travel sites. Decor throughout hotel (except rooms) consists of massive amounts of modern art tastefully arranged. Awesome breakfast included. great toiletries and touches. excellent restaurant--fantastic food and service and good value, views of Vitosha mountains. inside of restaurant very smoky. very nice gym, pool, steam room and sauna though membership apparently open to locals, who took up cardio machines and pool every time I wanted them. also, gym staff a bit chilly and you have to buy swim caps, even men with very little hair. elevators and hallways always very smoky. no concierge service to speak of and some items not replaced/available that you would expect at 5-star. We got upgrade due to room shortages and felt like kings of the castle in massive penthouse suite with gorgeous views--though people walking by added less privacy. chunky cheap pillows made sleep a bit difficult.

Room Tip: consider 5th floor room next to restaurant if not too much more

hotel is located a litlle bit far away from the city center and the old town. staff is very smart and helpfull. rooms are very good and wide. we were staying at suite room and the room was like a king suite. the room rates were really very good. we paid 540€ for 4 nights for the suite room. breakfast is rich and tasty. i would like to dvice some nice places near to the hotel for eating and for night out. Happy grill is a good idea for eating with its wide menu. Planet Bar is the best idea for night out, the bar is the most cosy place at town. Happy Sushi is the one of the best sushi restaurant i have evere ate, highly recommended. For shopping the best idea is to visit mall of sofia on the airport road.

Room Tip: get a suite the value is okey dont be afraid:-)

The hotel is very nice, the rooms are amazing big and unique - look wise the hotel is GREAT. Breakfast was good as well and location was ok - not center but in a walking distance you had all you needed.
The reason for the OK and not more is mainly the facilities and the restrictions around it. Reception desk was reserved and was focusing on basic needs - no proactive support or advise (direction to restaurants - 'go left and you will see it'; no map - 'we just gave all to a big group that came', it took time until one offered to print out a google map - which was good enough to help us orient).
The swimming pool staff was not friendly and especially not child-friendly. For the swimming pool there were no towels and swimming caps were mandatory (first place in all of our trip) - they charged 9 lev only to say after that shower cap from the room are also possible...
Internet was supposed to be free in every room - non of the 3 rooms worked for 2 days, loby internet was weak. Solutions were not offered.
summery - nice hotel, great rooms, ok location, ok service and staff, not good swimming facilities.

Room Tip: for connecting rooms ask for 2 rooms with a glass door connecting them - rooms x10 and x11

Hotel was nothing special - it seemed artificial, trying to be something it was not. I booked non-smoking room but was assigned a smoking room. I complained to hotel desk and she indicated they could make the room a non-smoking room by simply removing the ashtray and matches. I indicated I can still smell the smoke. She moved me to another smaller room which was designated a non-smoking room, but I could tell this was ignored as the carpet had cigarette burns and still smelled the smoke. The hotel itself is new but already feels starting to run down at least in the rooms, while the hotel lobby is still looks new. The breakfast was not that great. They had lots to chose from, but the selections were not fresh, especially the breads which seemed a day old. The hotel does display a lot of art work, which seemed pretty interesting. Bottom line, not sure if I would stay here again. Hotel does have free wifi.

Stayed a week for business with my family (3 people). Nothing negative to say about the personnel of this hotel, they were all very nice and responded to all our requests concerning the room, except maybe for the chambermaids who were talking very louldly to each other from one room to another early in the morning. The breakfast lacks inspiration and is really not very good. For example, coffee is bad and served in thermos bottles, the cereals are not eatable. Breakfast is served until 10am every day, even on weekends. The hotel is 5stars and breakfast could be extended till 11am on weekends, as in the majority of 4 and 5 * hotels. There is a restaurant on the top floor with a nice terrace overlooking the city. The restaurants serves international and local cuisine and is reasonably priced. The same applies to the 24hours room service. The hotel is situated on a main road with a lot of traffic even late at night and early morning but we were not disturbed by this as the windows were closed in the airconditioned rooms (our room was facing a sidestreet). The rooms are huge and confortable, wireless internet is available without surcharge. A major issue, as far as we were concerned, was the airconditioning which vehiculated the cigarette smoke from adjacent rooms in our room. The smell of cigarettes remained all night in the room which is for non-smokers like us a nightmare (breathing cigarette smoke while trying to sleep...) even our clothes were infested with cigarette smoke. Opening the windows was not an alternative because it was very hot during our stay and due to the traffic on the main street it was impossible to sleep with open windows. Normally a 5* hotel has a concierge but in this hotel there is only one lady at the reception desk on a 12hour shift. All of these ladies were very helpful but do not expect that they give you assistance and directions about activities, where to eat, etc. They have no idea. Another point I wanted to mention is that the hotel does not have maps of the city and other guides (restaurants, clubs, what to do, cultural events, etc). Overall a mixed experience. It is rated a 5* hotel which it is definitely not: it does not meet the standards of a 5* hotel but, on the other hand they do not charge 5* star prices as the other hotels in Sofia of this category such as the Sheration and the Hilton.

Room Tip: avoid a room on the main street

Great value for money. We stayed in junior suite, it was large but still coasy and warm. It had all amenities You would like from a hotel. Breakfast was great, spa center very nice for relaxing, service was fast and accurate. Private parking and internet for free is a bonus and it is close to center of the town.

My wife,my teenager son and me,stayed for three nights at this hotel. The location is perfect, ten minutes walk to the very center of Sofia. The building is beautiful enough and the public areas modern with many paintings and sculpures. The breakfast room is a gallery but the food nothing special. All the members of the hotel are very kind and helpful, very helpful.Rooms are huge, klean and with anything you need but some of them need renovation,at least this one we stayed. Also there is a small but beautiful indoor swimming pool unfortunally not heated, sauna, steambath and gym, free wifi, really fast, and free 24hour guarded parking. One thing i did not like is that my credid card charged twice but i was ensured that it would not be a problem. As conclusion this is a very good hotel and i certainly will stay again.
