“A good Hotel for Conference”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

We are a Group of Businesstravlellers and went in early January 2013 for a couple of Days into this Festa Hotel in Sofia. We hadthere different Businessmeetings and all had been organized very good andcorrect by the Hotel. Food was average and allwas pretty clean. Room was in anormal classic Design. Our Standard Roomwas large.

I stayed here because it was close to my client's offices. The hotel itself has a certain faded charm. The foyer is elegant if a little dated. The rooms are very clean (although there was a used tooth pick in my soap holder) and the showers, whilst providing copious amounts of hot water seem to be a little low (even for some one of shorter stature) and have a mind of their own in terms of where they want to spray the water. As noted on another review, the bedroom curtains only just meet. On the plus side the room was decent sized, very quiet and the bed comfy. The staff, whilst not overly welcoming, are efficient and relatively pleasant. The food in the restaurant, is edible but nothing special and it could possibly do with a little more choice; but then I am not sure how much business the restaurant does since I was the only person in there at 8pm at night. Overall it's not a bad hotel by any means, and a damn sight better than a lot of those on offer in other capital cities. I will certainly stay there when again in Sofia on business but I probably wouldn't choose it for social trips (especially since it is located a good distance from the centre of the city).

The hotel's location works for me but will not suite everyone.

The building is attractive but, as with most buildings in Sofia the surroundings are spots of brand new shiny glass offices and 60s/70s tower blocks. Its very hard to find a nice view of the (actually beautiful) surroundings because of this.

The hotel staff are amateurish, customer service doesn't really exist. Do not ask for an early check in or late check out. There's often a bellboy on duty but he has never offered to carry a bag. Never raised a smile, either.

Breakfast is passable, just. Acceptable for the hotel's price point.

Rooms are spacious but if you don't smoke be prepared for the smell - another Sofia trait. In room facilities are ok, decent mini bar and various TV channels.

There is a restaurant on site, but other than breakfast I have never seen it open. In room dining is appalling with a terrible menu and only local Bulgarian wines which really are only just drinkable. Thankfully there are a couple of places to eat within a short distance.

Chaps, be prepared to be offered the services of the fairer sex. In the lobby. Before you put your bag down to check in!

This hotel has the undeniable advantage of being very quiet, but I suspect that this is because it's almost empty. The rooms are spacious and scrupulously clean. The staff are professional, but very cool. Which is more than I can say for the rooms. Excuse me, but do you have to heat each room to 250°C? On the one hand, it's a novel experience to be able to sleep naked on top of the bed without covers, but I personally like my sleeping space to be a bit less sauna-like. Anyway, all things considered, you could do a lot worse than stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the façade, as Sofia has a real problem with packs of stray dogs, and at ni...

Very good hotel. I've only spent one night there, but I think I will return next time that I'll visit Sofia. The price was under 60 euros, which is good for a 4 star hotel. The location is convenient, close to the ring road and the new Bulgaria Mall.

I spent one night for a business meeting in this hotel which is located in the outskirts of Sofia's city centre. Fairly easy to get there from the airport through the "ring", it takes about 25-30mins. For those with a car, there are some parking places available all around.
My reception by the front desk staff was similar to the weather: cold. But the stay was very cheap, the room was just okay, with a better than average bathroom with amenities. Also, good minibar. No problems with the cleanliness either, but still, the hotel had a strange, boring feeling.
I did not find it cosy at all; the small bar is located in the gallery, but without normal seating, the restaurant is dark and the food was just okay. Breakfast selection was poor. I could vsit again, but only for a short stay. The biggest catch is that it is cheap, compared to the service.

I stayed in the hotel 6 nights, in a double room for single use. The rooms are very nicely furnished, with comfortable beds and good quality towels. The only thing missing was water cattle that I am so used to staying in other Bulgarian hotels. If I wanted to have warm tea before going to sleep I had to go down to the bar, which often was already closed.

Conference facilities, especially the top floor conference room, are great. Catering was good, and staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is rather far away from the center, but you can easily reach it by tram or taxi. It takes 10-15 minutes to drive to the center, 1 Leva on tram (0.5 Euro) or 6 Leva taxi (3 Eur), which is totally affordable. There is almost nothing in the close vicinity of the hotel. Restaurants and bars are walking distance, approx. 15-20 minutes from the hotel.

In general, I would recommend this hotel for business travelers, but not for tourists wanting to get a night spirit of Sofia.
