A great weekend hike up the Vitosha to the summit Black Peak at around 2300m high.

We took the metro to Vitosha Station, walk through the mall, Paradise Centre. From the bus stop in front of Cherni Vrah Street (Bus Stop number: 2756), take a 15mins bus ride to Simeonovo lift bus stop (the last stop). The bus is 122 and only runs during the weekends. Once you reach the lift (the lifts only work on the weekend too) buy a return ticket that cost 14BGN and take the lift to the last stop, Alesko Hut. From there it’s about 1hr 30mins of good hike to the top!

The view is stunning on a clear day and you can have a full panoramic view of the entire Sofia City.

If you are looking to get out of the city for some good hiking and fresh air, this is definitely worth a trip!

If you like to get away from the city, Vitosha Mountain is a great opportunity. Good for hiking and skiing. Has the occasional spot for a tea and some simple food.

There is an old abandoned chair lift that you can park and walk out to see a fabulous view of the city. It is a beautiful drive up the mountain but evidently on weekends no cars are allowed....only public transit. Worth a visit

It was sooo nice! If you are in Sofia and have time - must do - climb Cherni brag. The path is not difficult you can even do it with bike! The view over Sofia is amazing and refreshing

A lot of capitals in the world has ski opportunities in 15-20 minutes from the center of the city. You can get there with the Simeonovo lift, or by car. The nature park is one of the most beautiful in Bulgaria, not only in winter, in summer too. See photos

Perfect place to relax in the nature just a half an hour away from Sofia. There are a lot of well marked hiking trails, as well as bicycle trails. Don`t miss the Golden Bridges where are the most easily accessible stone rivers in Vitosha. You can go there by public transport. There are two cable cars, too. You can also go up by car but in the weekends it could be difficult to find a place to park, that`s why there is a ban for private cars on weekends from 10 am to 4 pm.

Beautiful mountain overlooking the capital. Easy day trip to Vitosha, many trails to choose from. Few choices of public transportation depending on your starting point. The highest point is 2000 m.

Beautiful mountain, close to Sofia (20-30 min), good for tourism, walks. Unfroyunately, not very popular for skying, since the facilities are old and not good enough.
