Quite impressive exterior. Unfortunately, it was closed when we visited so, we were not able to get inside.

If you think it's marvellous on photos of the outside facade, you must get the chance to see the inside - even better

Founded in 1904, the Ivan Vazov National Theatre is a beautiful neoclassical building, named after the prominent writer. He himself often visited the theatre and the chair from where he watched the performances has a memorable plaque today. If you know Bulgarian, you would love the performances with some of the best Bulgarian actors.

In summer, the garden in front of the theatre turns into one of the loveliest places in Sofia to rest and watching the bubbling fountains and people playing chess. You could have a drink at one of the cafes or just relax on one of the many benches.

My last visit to this place was in February. There was a lot of snow and many young people enjoyed skating on the ice rink laid out for winter months.
