St Nedelya is the site of a famous anri-government attack caused by terrorists in the 1920s, but it's not just worth visiting for that - it's actually a beautiful example of traditional Orthodox icons and architecture. It's right downtown, so ... what's not to like.

This church is situated in the "Square of Tolerance" right next to Vitosha Boulevard, the Jewish Synagogue and the Mosque.

Not every church has the history associated with this one, nor the descriptive sign on the wall to explain it. Interior is nice but the visit is more worthwhile to learn of the important historical event that took place here.

We happened into the church during services, which were warm and heartfelt. The church is so much smaller than the Alexandr Nevsky, that it was easier to feel that warmth.

Beautiful Orthodox cathedral in the city center. Magnificent icons and frescoes inside. Taking pictures for free.
