I was told that this mosque was build to look like a miniature of the blue mosque in Sultanahmet, Istanbul. I did not see great similarities.

Maybe the sole minaret had something in common.

I see everywhere nicer mosques than this.

As the last mosque in Sofia. Very friendly guy, gave us robes to enter. My first experience in a mosque, and a good one.

The structure was built in the 16th century, but the interior of the mosque looks to be newly remodeled without regard for historical accuracy. The tiles are beautiful new Turkish tiles, but there is no suggestion of how the interior would have looked when built.

Banya Bashi Mosque was built on the initiative and with financial support from benefactor Mullah Effendi Kada Seyfullah. So in some sources and notes mosque mosque named “Mullah Effendi” or “Kada Seyfullah.” On the arch above the door with paint on stone written text can not be read. Below it shows the date 974, which gives reason to assume it was built in 974 on the AH (Muslim calendar) or 1566-1567 year.
Banya Bashi Mosque is interesting architectural creations, reflecting the specificity of the Ottoman architectural thought in the 16th century. It was built by the Ottoman architect Sinan. The interior of the mosque acquired its present form as a result of repeated repairs.

We live in Istanbul so I wanted to see this mosque as it is one of the early works of the architect (Sinan) . Looks like it has been extensively renovated inside - new tiles etc but still lovely.
