“Not memorable”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

The structure was built in the 16th century, but the interior of the mosque looks to be newly remodeled without regard for historical accuracy. The tiles are beautiful new Turkish tiles, but there is no suggestion of how the interior would have looked when built.

“Banya Bashi Mosque”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

Banya Bashi Mosque was built on the initiative and with financial support from benefactor Mullah Effendi Kada Seyfullah. So in some sources and notes mosque mosque named “Mullah Effendi” or “Kada Seyfullah.” On the arch above the door with paint on stone written text can not be read. Below it shows the date 974, which gives reason to assume it was built in 974 on the AH (Muslim calendar) or 1566-1567 year.
Banya Bashi Mosque is interesting architectural creations, reflecting the specificity of the Ottoman architectural thought in the 16th century. It was built by the Ottoman architect Sinan. The interior of the mosque acquired its present form as a result of repeated repairs.

“Lovely Mosque”
Reviewed May 12, 2012

We live in Istanbul so I wanted to see this mosque as it is one of the early works of the architect (Sinan) . Looks like it has been extensively renovated inside - new tiles etc but still lovely.

“An interesting experience.”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

This was my first visit to a Mosque so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was helped into the appropriate green hooded cloak which the women wear and ushered inside. Quite beautiful. I sat quietly until prayers were about to begin.

“Do not waste time”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

If you come in Sofia - this can not plug it into your program. No big deal! The only mosque in Sofia. Through the years has been - prison, library and other. Is currently surrounded by beam construction of the new metro. In Sofia and Bulgaria other places that definitely worth it, but not this!
