Reviewed January 17, 2013

Pretty nice Greek restaurant, typical style, cosy, good food, kind staff, maybe a little overpriced.

“The review below this one is spam”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

This is my favourite restaurant. I was really surprised with the review below. So surprised in fact I had to write a reply. I noticed that the reviewer has reviewed 21 restaurants and all of them were terrible except for 1. Funny eh?

Yamas is a great place. The staff are always friendly, the bread is never mouldy and the seafood is cheap. My favourite is the shrimps with garlic for 19 leva. I don't think the woman below ever visited the restaurant because you could order everything on the menu and it would not total up to 300 leva. Grrr. Tripadvisor is a good tool but only when you can trust the reviews. There is a lot of subterfuge going on from competitors.

A typical bill at this restaurant might be 50 or 60 leva for 2, and the atmosphere is great.

“Poor”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

There was mold on the bread, the staff were rude and the food was WAY overpriced.

Also, my colleagues went and were charge 300 leva (about $175) for a seafood platter!

“Authentic Greek atmosphere in Sofia!”
Reviewed March 16, 2011

We have visited this very cozy and charming Greek restaurant in October 2010. The atmosphere and interior is really nice and authentic (you feel as if being in a tavern in Greece), the staff is very quick and helpful (you get a complimentary freshly baked bread rolls and the glass of mineral water upon your arrival). The food menu is so long and everything is so delicious that I really don't know what to recommend - don't miss the grilled octopus, sea bass and the grilled calamari though, all of them are terrific! Oh, don't miss also the appetizer Gavros saganaki /shrimp, onion, fresh peppers, tomatoes, garlic, white wine and parsley/! I have been told that everything you order is freshly prepared in their kitchen following original Greek recipes. The Yamas chef is said to be of working for many years for the most distinguished Greek and Cypriot taverns and is considered one of the biggest advantages of this restaurant. You can pay in cash or using Visa/MC credit card, there is a free WiFi. The prices are above average (the 200 g dish of grilled octopus is around 24 BGN or 12 EUR for instance), but I would recommend visiting this restaurant as an enjoyable experience to everyone who would like to see an authentic Greek restaurant without actually going to Greece!
