Did the one week 'riddles of the Rila mountains' self-guided tour in August '17. We were both very happy with the service Traventuria provided. The drivers picking us up and dropping us off were always on time and very friendly. The route descriptions and maps were very clear, also providing us with alternatives on days when we were tired and the hikes themselves were very nice. They were also pretty flexible with the schedule: we cancelled our first hike just 2 hours in advance because of bad weather, switched two days around because of the same and were even able to ask the driver during a hike to pick us up an hour later.

We are used to hiking holidays in which we do all the research and planning ourselves and I do think that it would be possible to do this trip unorganized if you hire a car, but this was just so much easier. No worrying about hotels, transfers, traffic, the best routes, etc. All we had to do was show up and hike, which was exactly what we wanted. If I could do this holiday again, there's some small things I'd change about the routes but I'd talk it over with someone who knows the area first: not all the hiking routes in my GPS actually existed.

The hiking tour was well organised and our guide Mitko was very professional and knowledgeable. I enjoyed very much the hikes! Our efforts were rewarded with beautiful views during the day and delicious local food in the evening. My highlight was the Seven Rila Lakes hike!

Nellie Chukurlieva was the best guide ever. Apart from giving us a unique experience with slow, thoughtful yet challenging climbs, she shared vast knowledge on the mountain, on history and culture in a calm, friendly and unintrusive way. Her choice of treks and her care for us and for the whole project were exemplary. She as a friendly and warm relationship with business partners and colleagues all over the area where we stayed. After the week spent with her, we spent another week with our family in the vicinity. Her recommendations were very welcome to share with the family too. A memorable holiday. Please thank Nellie again and make sure that she knows how much she is worth! Kind regards, Theodora and Laurence Broyd

Last day of our small trip to Sofia and we decided to go and see the Rila mountains. We assembled at 7 in the morning near the Cathedral and we met our guide and 4 other hikers there. After one and a half hour we arrived at the Rila mountains and went up by chair lift.

We walked for an hour or two to arrive at the 5th lake and there the guide gave us the choice of going to the 7th lake or stay behind. We were glad that we went up because the view was stunning.

Afterwards we went via another route down the hill again and arrived at the chair lift at 16:30.

Our guide was wonderful. When we wanted to stop to take a picture or a small break, he patiently waited for us. His English was fluent and he explained a lot about the nature and the lakes. He was very passionate and while we don't like guided tours that much, we really enjoyed this one because of the freedom we got. Was easily worth the €49 euros we paid per person!

Thanks for the amazing day!

It was a good choice to book the trip to Rila monastery and Bojana church. Booking was comfortable and questions in advance were answered immediately. Our guide Vasco did a great job. He give us a lot of tips and informed us about history, nature, live and economics in Bulgaria. He had a broad knowledge about our places of interest. In my opinion an audio guide is not necessary.
