Having very limited time, but looking for something special for our wedding aniversary trip we decided to use the support of Traventuria to organize a hiking trip in the highest mountains of Bulgaria (not romantic? c'mon :)) And I must admit that it was a perfect choice.

Everything was perfectly prepared. The hiking routes were described very precisely - maybe even too precisely for experienced hikers, but remember that it is prepared for all kind of people. Even if you have no experience in walking in the mountains you would not get lost. Our drivers were always on time. Some of them were a bit quiet, but some of them loaded us with a lot of interesting information about Bulgaria. The choice of the hotel in Sofia is perfect - great location, nice room - what more do you need? And the family pension in Govedartsi... even better.

I'm also very much pleased with the email communication with the company. Their answers were always comprehensive and they give you a lot of valuable tips. Don't be afraid to ask or suggest anything. Your points will always be taken into consideration and the final choice will be yours.

So if you don't have time to organize everything yourself or just want to learn about Bulgaria - don't hesitate to use Traventuria.

Our guide was Nikola who spared no effort to make us feel comfortable and guide through the history of Plovdiv. He was very attentive to the needs of the group and two old ladies in our group.

He sang to us which was nice and added and answered all questions we have.

However, Sofia and Plovdiv are not touristic places and if you are a frequent traveler you may not find that much of a wow factor, unless you are particularly interested in Bulgarian history. We spent six hours on the road (which we were aware of as indicated on the website) but did not feel much return on investment time wise.

We booked a day excursion to Rila mountain & Rila monastery.
Our guide, Simeon, was very friendly and knowledgable about the history of Rila monastery and Seven Rila lakes we visited.
With only one day to spend sightseeing for Rila Mt. & Rila monastery it was a comfortable and economical way.
Lunch was delicious - fresh fish in a local restaurant. I can highly recommend Traventuria to everybody who likes to go hiking in Bulgaria!

As for me, it is the best option to go to this monastery - it is not expensive and you will have enough information (even without audio guide - I took one, but the english-speaking accompanying person from Traventuria told the history of the place to everybode). Both specialities are UNESCO objects and are worth to be seen. I recommend to trip with Traventuria.

We used Traventuria as transport to and from the airport and on two tours, one to Plovdiv and one to Rila Monastary. The trip to Plovdiv was with Svet who is very knowledgable about the history of Bulgaria and of the Plovdiv and the monastery we visited. He was able to put everything in perspective so we understood what we were seeing at all times. He was obviously well acquainted with the people in the Plovdiv so we felt we had some "behind the scenes" opportunities to visits craftsmen. The trip to Rila was equally as informative. While our guide was newer, he was no less knowledgable and in fact took extra time to make sure we understood the deeper meanings of the things we saw. Climbing through the cave was an amazing experience, one I will never forget. And lunch along the river with the fresh trout was amazing. Finally, on my trip back to the airport, the driver actually came into the terminal with me to make sure that I was in the right place. You won't go wrong booking a tour with Traventuria.
