The guides on my excursions to Rila and Troyan monasteries, Svet and Phillip, were not merely knowledgeable. Both spoke excellent English, and were interesting people. I enjoyed conversing with them during the lengthy road trips, and strongly recommend them to anyone who wants a better than average tour experience.

We spent 1 day doing both Rila Monastery & Melnik. The highlight of Rila Monastery was the architecture. It's more useful to bring a camers with wide angle. Melnik is a wine producing town. Besides that, another attraction there are the sand pyramids. One can go to these places on one's own, but it's best to go with a guide who can explain everything one needs to know. We did the tour with Tranventura & we got a lot of information which is not found in guide books.

The place I went were Koprivshtitsa and Rila Monastery. Both were historical sites. The sceneries there were marvellous especially after snowing that 2 days. Of course, definitely a camera should be brought because the pictures on the walls of Rila Monastery were so well kept and beautiful.

We took a 5 day tour of Bulgaria with Traventuria. As there were 4 of us they arranged a private tour to suit our requirements. This included a tour guide, vehicle and driver, and accomodation, all at a very reasonable price. The itinerary was excellent and the guide extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Sofia was a small but nice city with interesting sights. The Boyana Church is well worth a visit and the museums were great.
We visited lovely old towns such as Plovdif with its Roman theatre and Veliko Tarnova with its crusader castle.
Rila Monastery, high in the mountains, was the highlight of our tour.
I would highly recommend Traventuria Tours for their personalised service.

I want to thank you for the very professional way in which your company organised the trip for Mike and I. Everything was clear before we left the UK, the materials for our self-guided days were very helpful and we were entirely satisfied with the accommodation in Govardartsi and Bansko. We were met on time by your representative when we arrived and our tour guide for the week could not have been in any way more helpful or more charming than she was. Despite the disappointing weather, we enjoyed our visit to Bulgaria. Both Mike and I would like to return one day to climb Vihren and Maliovitsa.

With best regards

Dr Alan Beaton
