Description: These is one of two same named restaurants, both in Sofia, Bulgaria. The old and gorgous Red House is situated at 33, Parchevich Str. If you are one of those curious travellers who prefer to walk through smaller, narrow streets, you will hardly miss Chervenata Kashta (the Red House). It is indisputably a big red house, which stands out from the rest of the houses and buildings around it. It is one of the oldest preserved houses in Sofia, recognized as a cultural monument. During summer the garden of the Red House is simply fantastic! Luckily the tables are big enough, because it will not be easy to pick one dish only! The food is delicious and the menu is very rich. The Red House serves also pizza baked in a charcoal oven and many vegetarian dishes. There is a good selection of fresh fish to choose from. Everyweek (from 8 pm on) you can enjoy the delicious meals of the house while listening to live music - very 'live' and very entertaining because the performers are passionate proffessionals in a different styles of music. The Red House really wants you to feel as relaxed as at home...And loves the little ones too! In fact they have a small 'children's restaurant' where the kids can play, draw and socialize.

I am a regular visitor and every time the service is excellent, as well as the food. The menu is diverse, and I especially like and recommend the bread bowl of meat balls or kebapcheta, which are wonderful!

got there with a business colleague by accident, had no idea what to expect. the place is folklorelike decorated, huge menu ranging from local to Italian and mediteranean dishes. had a pizza (ok) a shepperd's salad (good), a kebab (very good) and a beef steak (ok). had a nice Czeck beer and Rakia (a local plum brandy) a a too much gelatine too sweet dessert called Pannetone. The service was ok, the waiter was a bit slow on the English but polite and nice. prices are reasonable (all the above was EURO 35), you can have nice young red Frescobaldi for EURO 15. all in all - a decent place.

This is clearly a popular restaurant, since it was quite busy even on a weekday evening.

I first ordered pork kavarma (a Bulgarian speciality) but the waitress advised me against it since she said they didn't have "the right kind of meat" and I might therefore be disappointed with the result. In the end I went with her recommendation, which turned out to be a simple pork steak in mushroom sauce. It was perfectly acceptable but really had nothing particularly notable about it. The other guests at our table seemed happy with their meals.

At a little over 50Lv. for five meals and drinks for everyone, it wasn't the cheapest restaurant in Bulgaria I've visited, but of course being in Sofia, I guess that's only to be expected.

Service was friendly and efficient.
