“Sad....”

Famously known as the Romeo and Juliet Bridge but it's officially called Suda Diberovic and Olga Sucic Bridge. Either way it's named after victims of the Siege of Sarajevo. The picture of the bridge with the arches is the Latin Bridge. Obviously not the same.

“Story...”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

The bridge itself is nothing special, but the story behind Romeo and Juliet Bridge(ex Vrbanja Bridge) will make you cry. That is story about young man and woman who were in great love, planning marriage when war started in Sarajevo. They were crossing a bridge when sniper bullet shot young man, killing him instantly. The second shot young girl and she was heavily wounded.Still, she managed to crawl to her boyfriend and die with her arm around him. They were not the same nationality, and that bridge was on their way to escape the city and national hatred.Unfortunately, evil stopped them.Knowing the story, bridge is suddenly more than just a bridge...

This is not worth going out of your way to visit but is does have an interesting past associated with the war years.

“A true symbol of the war”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

We stopped by this bridge and snapped a photo. Unfortunately, we did not find any monument or memorial. The city has done a poor job of memorializing critical places for tourists. Aside from the short list of museums, you'll need a private guide to show you the critical sites from the Seige (sniper alley, Romeo & Juliet bridge, Tunnel of life, etc.). However for those in the know, this is one site worth snapping a quick photo. With all the USAID and NGO money that flowed into Sarajevo in the past 15 years, you'd think that they would have helped memorialize the tragic war and in doing so, promote tourism and redefine the nation's image, from heartless to heroic. In this capacity, much work has yet to be done.

“Nice for photo ops”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

The bridge itself isn't that impressive, but the surroundings are nice and make for good photos.
