Gallery 11/07/95 is a must for all visitors to Sarajevo. Located in the heart of downtown, the gallery documents the Srebrenica genocide. The walls are blanketed with pictures and names of over 8000 boys and men executed in July 1995 by Serb forces. Gripping photographs by Tarik Samarah remind us never to forget innocent lives lost in genocidal acts of violence, and make sure that Srebrenica never happens again. Testimonies of witnesses painful but must see.

The gallery is smaller than I thought it would be (with fewer photographs than I thought there'd be) but the computers with the multimedia explanations and the guided tour more than make up for the physical size of the gallery. I really recommend going! Our guide, Saliha was an expert and had so much information to share that I almost needed to take notes or maybe should have asked her to slow down a little so I could process everything that she was telling us. In a word, she was fabulous. It's hard to say "Enjoy your visit!" over subject matter that is so devastating, but it will definitely help give you a better understanding of the chain of events if you go!

If you are in sarajevo, you must visit this place. It is worth money and time. Of course you can spend there half an hour, but if you want to watch interviews with women from Srebrenica one day is not enough. Extremely helpfull staff. I recomend this place for the people who want to know more about genocide in this part of Europe.

This is such an important part of your visit to Sarajevo. The Memorial Museum is here for us to pay respect for all those whose lives have been lost in vain, to say never again and experience why violence must stop. The tour guide is very useful and will give you information that is not otherwise easily available. For me this Memorial Museum is a memorial to all genocides, the worst of all the Holocaust, the genocide in Rwanda, Sudan, Cambodia, against Armenians, all those "lesser" ones but no less important.
