This is more like a hotel than a hostel. Very clean with nice room and very comfortable beds. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. There is a large living area with huge flatscreen and various electronic and games consoles and board games to play with other guests.

Stayed in a four bed room which was light, clean and comfortable. Even had our own bathroom.

The hostel is run by 2 brothers who are very nice and both are extremely helpfull. In fact they couldn't do enough for you. Emir, the younger brother arranged food to be delivered and gave good advice on where to go in Sarajevo. He even rang a taxi and woke me up at 4:00 am when I forgot to set my alarm and very nearly missed my flight!!

Excellent place to stay and you'll probably meet nice people too.

Thanks Edin and Emir!

Room Tip: we had 4 person room, which was perfect and v-cheap.

I find hostels often have an inherent dirtiness which I'm more than happy to tolerate for their price and ambience. However this hostel is like living in a big clean house - but without the connotations that you are intruding. This place is so immaculately clean!! It is also very homely and you don't feel like you are intruding at all.
The common area is large and filled with books, board and card games, as well as an x box.
The brothers who run this place are committed to make sure you have a good stay. They strike me as very honest and the sort who do things right.
The location is up a steep hill from the city centre, about a ten minute walk. It's not great to walk up with your backpacks, but we were picked up by car, so no problems there. From their balcony you get a decent view over the town.

Driving up the hill of Safvet Bega, you couldn't be blamed if you felt you'd come to the wrong part of town and were ready to turn round and high tail it before you even reached the Hostel de Ville at the top of the hill, but if you did, you would be making a very big mistake.

Located above the old city on a hill that changes from the busy old city square at the bottom through a mixture of rundown apartment buildings to nouveau villas, small modern hotels and ex embassy premises at the top, the Hostel de Ville is a tranquil oasis that offers ideal, secure surroundings for the backpacker or budget traveller. Run by Edin and his younger brother Emir, both are committed to ensuring their guests are happy and nothing is too much trouble.

This large, gated, transformed family villa is spacious, offers a fantastic common area and kitchen facilities, and great value for its central location. Visiting the old city is only a convenient 10 minute walk (downhill) to the square, from where the main tram line provides access to the rest of this modern, cosmopolitan city.

A pleasure to meet and talk with Edin and Emir about the history of their city, current politics and football, and highly recommended.

Like buying a book on Amazon, I am always a little weary about not seeing any 4-star reviews on Tripadvisor. I always think it may be their families and friends writing the reviews. I stayed here anyway and I now know why...

The place is spotless, the location is great, the staff are nothing short of amazing.

I won't go into details because the many other reviews have done so. I agree with them.

Stay here and you will not be disappointed. If you are, then you are a hard cookie to please.

Room Tip: The top rooms have a bathroom on another floor which can be an inconvenience when you need a pee in...

One of the best hostel that I've ever seen. Perfect if you want to know the city trough a perspective that is not plunged in the touristic crowd. The night I used to pass many minutes in the terrace, seeing the city from on high. Every morning I made my turkish coffee using the kitchen. The staff helped me to discover the city and now I have only good memories about my life in that hostel.

Hostel Ville is a very nice place to stay that I can recommend a lot. Close to the old town of Sarajevo, shops and public transport, the hostel is located on the northern hills – a cocoon for taking a rest from the impressions of the day. It has very nice rooms, a common kitchen, living room, where one can just sit and relax, eat, exchange talks and ideas, read or just watch TV and also play, a terrace with an open view on the city-valley (which is particularly beautiful by moonshine, see picture) and also a garden (where fruits grow in summer). The staff is always there for requests and contributes to the pleasant atmosphere. I was very glad to stay here and can once more only recommend to anybody stay at this hostel while being in Sarajevo!
