Well put together (in an old synagogue) and telling a very interesting (but often sad) story, in particular about the1930s and 40s.

“Small but nice”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

Wasn't much to get in. Nice visit, but small. I spent under an hour here. The synagogue itself was beautiful.

“Jewish Heritage at its best”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

I love that it is hosted in the Old Temple, Kal vijež, that is still used for prayer on Yom Kippur. The ground floor is open for visits but that is where the Yom Kippur prayers take place. The next two floors are dedicated to the, mostly Sephardic, history of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Jewish community, the Holocaust. It has beautifully encased items that are easy to enjoy. The guide, Mario Kabiljo is very knowledgable and helpful, too, don't miss his tour of the Museum.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful and historic old synagogue with a nice collection of religious pieces and photos from everyday life... I do wish that the Holocaust exhibit was a little more detailed, but the book of the names of the 12.000 Bosnian Jewish victims was a good memorial and the plaque with the descriptions of the actions of Bosnian Righteous Among the Nations was a tearjerker for me. For 3KM, definitely worth a visit.

“Sarajevo Jewish history”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

An old Synagogue that turned into small museum that introduces you to the life and habits of the Jewish community of Sarajevo. Located at the old city it is easy to reach, it is worth the visit. Spent some time for the old market shop that is now exhibited there, providing a good idea on how the market looked from around 1550 till the start of the previous century.
