It is a very powerful spring from bottom of a vertical wall of a high Stoney mountain, in fact it is an outflow of an large underground river. A very worth visit if you are interested in natural wonders

Walking from the river at the Hollywood Hotel, we walked through the park leading to the Austria Hotel and continued on to the beginning of a two kilometer straight country road with wild chestnut trees on both sides.
We were unaware of the distance to the springs, but the horse drawn carriages for hire should have been a hint.
The park is lovely and we enjoyed a nice tea at the restaurant before using the horse carriage back ( 20 k. mark one way).
Great walk!

This is a spring of river Bosna. Is in a park with small children playground, a restaurant with fresh fish meals and nice shade. In a few ponds you can see ducks and swans and ofcourse fish.
Is a nice getaway on a hot day in Sarajevo. But is outside of Sarajevo so if you dont have your own car is good to take a tour in a tourist agency or more simple take a taxi is not expensive.
You have to pay a small amount for parking (5KM).

Very nice place to visit, from the center of Sarajevo take the tram number 3 all the way to Ilidza that's the last stop. Your about 30 to 45 minutes walk from the source of the river Bosna . You can also take a horse drown carriage if you don't feel like walking. Very scenic all the way white the mountain in the back ground. At the spring you can drink the most refreshing and clear water. There is also a coffee shop if you preferred a different beverage. There is a 2 km fee to get in but you can bring your picnic and spend a relaxing day.

If you're staying a few days in Sarajevo and would like to get out of the hussle and bussle, I'd recommend taking this little excursion. Its just across the river from the terminus of the tram line no. 3
You can either walk or take a horse and carriage up to the park, where the source of the river Bosna is found.

fantastic day out and so relaxing in the fresh clean air of the beautiful park surrounding the river Bosna. we drove in the horse and carriage through beautifully tree lined Velika Aleja which is 3.5 km long from Ilidza to Vrelo Bosna. something not to be missed. you can easily have a picnic in the park or have lunch at one of the restaurants, or just have an ice-cream or coffee. make sure you have the local currency and smaller notes. we walked back and spoke to few locals along the way who were very informative about what to see and where to go.
