Karuzo is a cozy small restaurant which me and my friend visited on the third day of our stay in Sarajevo, tired of meat-only proposals of other places. We ordered one of meals of the day, pumpkin gratin with goat cheese, and it was delicious! Sushi was good too, although not the best. Sacha and his wife really put their soul into dishes they make. Beware however that the price level of the place is higher than average in Sarajevo, main courses on the menu are around 8-9 euro each (fish is more expensive). Probably this is the reason why Karuzo is more popular among foreigners and it's rare to see locals dining there.

I was at Karuzo with friends. I didn't know it is known for their vege food and that chef (author of a book) serves you.

Food is fantastic, I have never tasted so good pasta - chef pasta.
Place is small and cute, nobody smoked inside, what is a big big plus indeed.

Beware - it's good to make reservation to get a seat and it may take long time to get food. So if you are in a rush that may not be a perfect place to stop.

What a great restaurant! The ambiance and food were fantastic. Well worth the visit. Sacha is a fabulous cook and his wine pairings were spot on. This is not a place to be rushed so don't be in a hurry!

Karuzo's is a great find in this city full of sausages, veal etc. Its quite unique in that it's a one-man band, Chef-and-Waiter all rolled into one. It only seats 12-14 people, but this makes it seem all the more cosy. The decor, plus the steps down to the galley, make it feel like eating on a boat. Sasha is a very nice guy, with a real passion for food and he makes mean sushi and healthy desserts. Not just a meal, but an experience.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and we were so glad they did! As a vegetarian, I was craving some vegetables in a meat-mad country and this hit the spot. It is a quaint little restaurant that makes you feel like you are eating on an old wooden boat. Food was amazing - both vegetarian, vegan and fish options available on the large menu. I had the Swiss chard parcels which were great, and my friend enjoyed the fish stew. We even went back the next night. Friendly Sasa is both chef and waiter so don't be in a hurry. Just enjoy the slow pace and not being hurried along. It sounds like Sasa even catches his own fish for the restaurant - he told us he was going trout fishing on his day off. You can also buy his cookbook - the first vegetarian cookbook in Bosnia which has all the recipes as well as Sasa's food philosophy.
