I heard about Sarajevo Funky Tours from a friend who had gone on the Total Siege Tour and based on her raves, signed up for the city tour. Skender, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and able to give a ton of historical perspective to the many sights around the city, including not only background and his own personal perspective from having grown up during the siege in the 90's but also further back across centuries of history that have shaped Sarajevo. It was a great way to get a general overview of the city and context before exploring on our own.

In addition, Skender gave us some great recommendations about places to see, eat, drink, etc. that weren't on the tour, which was extremely helpful for planning the rest of our trip.

Could not recommend more.

I warmly recommend the Tour for understanding more about Sarajevo and one of the longest siege of the history . I knew a lot about the events but going around and watching the main places with an excellent Cicero as Skender is really touching . It is still difficult to get a "balanced" view about the facts but Skender is capable to do it explaining the sentiment of the people sieged in Sarajevo . Skender loves Sarajevo and transfer to his customer this feeling . Anybody who has the experience of the Tour for sure wants to know more and more about it and about the wonderful town of Sarajevo . Personally I would like to come back soon bringing some friends there to share the same emotions with them .

The Total Siege Tour was absolutely phenomenal, I've never been on any tour like this. We just came back from the tour with Skender. It's like having a local as a friend, taking you through incredible first hand account of what it's like to live through the siege. His depth of knowledge and helps you understand and learn about the complex history of Sarajevo. The conflict in the 90s was so recent and raw that this place is a living museum and experience like no other. I learned so much from Skender and our brief 4hrs together, the experience was profound. He was charismatic, friendly, and an absolute professional. I'd love to go back to Sarajevo soon and join another one of his offerings to see more of Bosnia.

We don't usually take organized tours as we prefer to discover places on our own schedule. However, in Sarajevo there was so much we didn't understand about the siege, that we took three different tours. The third one we took, the Total Siege Tour, with Sarajevo Funky Tours, was the best one and we learned so much about the war. First of all, we took the tour on the morning of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the siege. So the tour had a special meaning that day as we went right from that to the ceremony with the red chairs. Skender did a fabulous job of explaining so many different aspects of a very complex political history. As stated by others, we visited the Tunnel Museum, something that really amazed me because it looked like a tunnel dug in the 1890's, not the 1990's! However, you could really envision people using it to smuggle guns and food back to the city. We also saw the positions of the army, up on the mountains surrounding the city. We witnessed a very poignant reminder of how affected this city still is when we saw the two men who spend all day digging up there for the brass shell casings or other metals, so that they can sell them to survive. We also saw the graffitied bobsled run, a reminder that the glory of the city was in 1984 when the Olympics were there and little of which is still visible. I don't pretend to completely understand the siege and the current situation, but the tour gave us a much better appreciation of what this beautiful city has endured.

brilliant tour with Skender, a very friendly and credible guide (who by the way can give you good bar, club and restaurant hints) - a very recommendable way of getting to know Sarajewo and its history.
